Flexible working can mean different things depending on who you’re talking to. For some people, it's choosing where they work from or having flexible hours, and for others it's a set structure like part-time or compressed hours, a four-day week or a job share.
Flexibility can also look different within the same company; an organisation might offer a mix of hybrid, remote, location-based and field-based roles, which means a retail worker’s week looks very different from someone who works in a head office.
However you define flexible working, it’s clear it’s an important priority for many people. Flexa data found that in 2026:
- Searches for jobs with flexibility on Flexa rose by 47%
- Searches for autonomy and trust-based cultures increased 145%
Flexibility also plays a really important role in making sure that everyone can access opportunities. For example, our data shows that:
- Disabled people are 25% more likely to search for fully remote roles
- Carers are 26% more likely to want job sharing opportunities
- Parents are 45% more likely to prefer core working hours
The 9 most flexible companies in 2026
We celebrated the most flexible companies in our 2026 Flexa Awards.
Because flexibility varies so much, our awards take into account what employees experience, not just what companies claim. We combine employee quiz scores, on-platform performance and what each company offers, to find the top companies for each award category in a way that’s balanced for statistical significance.

FAQs about the best companies for flexible working
What does flexible working look like?
It can mean flexibility over where you work, when you work, or how your job is structured. That includes remote, hybrid and work from anywhere schemes, flexible hours and core hours, and structures like part-time, compressed hours, job sharing or a four-day week. Most companies offer a mix, which is why it's worth looking at the detail rather than the label.
How do you find a flexible company?
Start with the type of flexibility you need. On Flexa you can filter companies by location flexibility, work time and work week, or browse lists such as remote-first companies, four-day week companies, companies with compressed hours and companies that offer job sharing. We've also got lists of companies that let you work from anywhere and companies open to part-time jobs.
How do you know if a job is really flexible?
Look at what employees say, not just what the company says. On Flexa, the percentages on a profile come from employees' answers to our quiz, and where employees haven't verified a score yet, the profile says so. Then check the job listing, because flexibility can vary by role: at TUI, a location-based role is different from a hybrid one, and Mars employees say operational roles have less flexibility.
Is flexible working the same as remote working?
No. Remote working is one type of flexibility, and plenty of the companies above are hybrid or have core hours. Some offer structure instead of location, like Atom Bank's four-day week or ClientEarth's job sharing.
What should you ask about flexibility in an interview?
Ask how the team works day to day, not just what the policy says. Useful questions include how many office days are expected, whether there are core hours, how work from anywhere days are approved, and whether your specific role has any limits.
Are these companies hiring?
Many are. You can see live roles on each company's Flexa profile, and if a company isn't hiring right now, you can follow it to get notified when it is.
