About us
With over 175 years of heritage, BT is the flagship business brand of BT Group. We are a B2B powerhouse serving 1.2 million business customers internationally.
We’re a global leader for secure connectivity and collaboration platforms for businesses of all shapes and sizes, from big household names and government departments, right through to sole traders and new start-ups. We help our customers build stronger, smarter, more secure businesses.
We value diversity and inclusion and believe in making a positive impact and being a part of
progress. We connect for good by championing digital inclusion and equipping people, businesses, and communities with digital skills to thrive.
With your growth mindset, you will be empowered to grow your skills, develop your career and disrupt the status quo. You will join an organisation that celebrates difference, fosters innovation and provides you with opportunities to become your best.
Flexible working at BT Business
For us, smart working is all about embracing new technology, breaking down barriers, and discovering new ways to work together. Ultimately, we need to strike a balance between what’s right for our people, our customers and our business.
Spontaneous connections formed in the office and social conversations help you to network, develop your career and learn. It helps managers to take care of their teams and junior colleagues to find the support and structure they need for their fledgling careers to flourish.
That’s why we think that a balance of time spent face to face combined with the flexibility of home working for up to two days a week is what will help us all to be more effective in our roles.
We call this approach “3 together, 2 wherever”.
- That means up to 2 days of flexible working per week for most office based colleagues. This can include working from home, or even your local coffee shop.
- Not all roles are the same. In some cases for example in customer-facing roles- it may be advantageous or required (Eg specific, security cleared roles) to be in the office four or five days a week.
- Typically our job adverts/vacancies will stipulate what the flexible/working pattern is. During the interview process you'll be able to find out more, and you'll also have a chance to talk with your line manager and agree the best working pattern once you join us.
We're providing brilliant spaces for everyone to connect and collaborate through our Better Workplace Programme.
- As part of this programme, we've got new offices in locations like London, Bristol, Birmingham and more, which have state of the art facilities, collaboration tools, spaces like faith rooms and more.
We believe flexibility isn't just about the days you work- it's also about the hours. If you have concerns over commuting to work during the rush hour, childcare costs or caring responsibilities, let's talk. There's no reason you need to work a rigid 9-5.
- For example some colleagues may come into the office later in the morning and/or leave earlier in the afternoon to accommodate school pick up times, and choose to work additional hours at home or later in the evening. Many colleagues work in slightly different ways to accommodate their commitments and lifestyle choices, which you again you can discuss at interview stage and with your line manager.
Approach to diversity & inclusion
We recognise that Inclusion & Diversity (I&D) is not just a ‘nice thing to do’, it’s critical to our growth. Our commitment to I&D remains resolute and unwavering.
The BT Group Manifesto was launched in 2021 and is our plan to accelerate growth through responsible, inclusive and sustainable technology. It is rooted in our purpose, to connect for good, and it will help us achieve our ambition – to become the world’s most trusted connector of people, devices and machines. Our Manifesto includes measurable commitments to amplify our positive impact for people and planet – combined with a clear commercial agenda.
Recruiting and supporting women and people from the LGBTQ+ community
- Our internal Gender Equality Network (GEN) aims to raise awareness, support our colleagues, hold the business to account and inspire change to policy, process and culture to drive gender equality.
- Our Pride Network is for LGBTQI+ people, Allies and anyone who wants to support their LGBTQI colleagues and friends.
- In 2024 the GEN and Pride network are partnering for Lesbian Visibility Week, hosting a workplace conference focusing on the lived experiences of Women and Non-Binary individuals.
- We’ve built relationships with Code First Girls, Career Returners, Black Girls Tech Summit and Girls Talk London to create more opportunities for women to move into technology careers.
- The award-winning "Not her problem" campaign tackled sexist hate and ran during the UEFA Women’s Euros 2022.
Disability Inclusion
- Our internal Able2 Network provides invaluable lived experience input into our I&D plans.
- We offer workplace adjustments (adaptations for colleagues with disabilities or health conditions)
- Where needed, colleagues can get a BT 'passport': a 'passport' is a simple document which can be completed by any colleague who feels their ability to work is being impacted due to health, disability or caring responsibilities. It aims to provoke discussion about balancing business and individuals needs and record outcomes of that discussion (and avoiding colleagues having to repeat personal information and explaining their conditions every time their manager changes).
- We’re a member of Valuable 500, a global business collective made up of 500 CEOs and their companies that are committed to disability inclusion. At the December 2022 disability summit, we renewed our commitment to three priorities: Workplace adjustment; Disability advocacy; and Career progression of our junior managers.
- We renewed our status as a Disability Confident Leader
- We partnered with Purple Goat, the UK’s only communications agencies run by disabled people, to deliver a series of awareness raising videos highlighting the experiences of colleagues with a range of disabilities – including diabetes, autism and visual and hearing impairments.
Ethnicity and Black Inclusion
- Supported by our Internal Ethnic Diversity Network which won the Best Network Group at the 2023 Ethnicity Awards.
- We've sponsored and built partnerships with organisations like the Avado FastFutures programme, The Aleto Foundation and 10,000 Black Interns to develop future leaders and attract young people from ethnic minority backgrounds
- Our Black middle managers continue to participate in the McKinsey Black Leadership programme which provides career development and networking opportunities.
Ex military and Armed Forces
- Supported by our Internal Armed Forces network. Members from the Armed Forces community across BT Group can access peer to peer mental health training.
- At BT Group we are one of the largest employers of both serving Reservists and former Armed Forces personnel with thousands of ex-military colleagues working across our business.
- We are thrilled that BT Group has re-signed the U.K. Armed Forces Covenant, reaffirming our commitment to our former Armed Forces colleagues, our serving Reservists and their families.
- In 2022, we renewed our Gold status/membership of the Armed Forces Covenant which we first achieved in 2014.

Hi, I’m Raj and I lead the Talent Acquisition team within our Service unit in BT Business. I love working for an organisation that allows me to be the best leader to my team, a mother to my two young children and to enjoy my hobby as a Bhangra Fitness Instructor. All of these were the main reasons I came back to work for BT after 8 years. I love working alongside my team to ensure we are supporting candidates throughout their application journey and identify new and creative ways of promoting our business.
