Employee reviews

Support Dogs's employees have anonymously had their say in what they think of the company

My manager has been wonderful helping me to gain flexible hours on my return to work post maternity. Without his support I would not have been able to work 22.5 hours only 15 hours which makes a huge difference to my income during this hard time.

Very flexible organisation.

The charity is hugely responsive to your needs and try to find ways to get the best from you.

About us

Established in 1992 in Sheffield, Support Dogs is a registered, national charity dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children and adults with various challenging medical conditions. We provide, train and support specialist assistance dogs to achieve this.

We specialize in three specific programmes focusing on those affected by epilepsy, autism and physical disabilities.

Flexible working at Support Dogs

We promote a positive people centered learning and working experience for our employees.

While we are restricted by the practicalities of day to day dog training and specific needs of our service users, we have an open approach to discussing flexible and hybrid work practices to get the best from our valued team.

Core working hours can vary from role to role dependent on our different departments, however we are a close knit passionate team, dedicated to the transformational work of our charity and helping each other to reach our goals.

We work in a open plan office, with plenty of trainee support dogs and puppies on hand to help each day go with a smile.

Approach to diversity & inclusion

At Support Dogs we are committed to encouraging equality, diversity and inclusion within our team and all aspects of our work.

It is our aim for our workforce to be truly representative of all sections of society and our stakeholders, and for each employee to feel supported and respected.

What do we think of Support Dogs?

What can we say? We absolutely adore the humans and canines at Support Dogs! As a valued partner to Flexa, we know how dedicated and hardworking these folks are, and having visited their HQ in 2022, we all got a glimpse of the fantastic people-(and dog)-first culture they've created. Their working environment is warm and friendly, and it's clear how much they value and respect each of their team members and their contributions. If you're looking for a life-enriching opportunity at an organisation that is literally changing lives every day, then Support Dogs should be the first place you look!

Meet who might be hiring you

We have an amazing dedicated and passionate team and are looking for equally dynamic, energetic people with a “can do” attitude to share the exciting journey that our charity is about to embark on.

Many visitors have commented on the friendly, family and inclusive feel to our workplace. Add puppies and dogs to the office and it makes the perfect combination!
