Employee reviews

Picnic's employees have anonymously had their say in what they think of the company

"I love working at Picinic"

"It's honestly such a great place to work. As start ups go...it's entrepreneurial, fast, experimental, brave and above all honest, open & kind (which is rare). I can't say enough good things about the culture and people at Picnic. They are the BEST."

"Great place to work at, very flexible and understanding team where trust is highly valued.
Work-life balance is great, and the work itself is challenging and rewarding. Everyone is open to answer any question, so it's a great environment for people new to the AdTech industry as well."

"Picnic has a very flexible and open work culture, where everyone is trusted to get their work done regardless of location and working hours. We have a strong balance between most people being in the office a couple of times a week without it being compulsory. We also have amazing benefits including 'Work From Roam', allowing you to work from anywhere in the world for a couple of months. The people at Picnic are highly motivated, ambitious and genuinely excited by the product we're building, which makes it a very supportive and collaborative place to work"

"Picnic is a very special place to work"

About us

Founded in 2016, we're a Series A ad-tech start up although we're pretty well established now and scaling up!

We exist to create a more user-friendly, ad funded open web. We believe annoying the user is one of the greatest inefficiencies in advertising...that's why we built 'The User First Media Platform'. We drive intentional user engagement with ad formats built for the user and deliver these ads in the highest performing environments.

All of this is possible because we have hired an incredible group of Picnicians. From Grads to Senior Leaders - the business is bursting with top talent. Come join us!

Flexible working at Picnic

Picnic operates a flexible approach to working. We have a hybrid working model built around core business hours with an element of flexibility and high trust. We expect Picnicians to work in a way that supports their outputs and/or client commitments.

Team bonding, collaboration and internal relationships are really important to us - we love spending time together tbh! We encourage people to come into the office 1-2 times per week, usually Tuesday and Thursday.

Once a month, we ask the full business to come together for an all company day. Known as 'Picnic Thursdays'; it means we can always be sure we will all see each other a minimum of once per month. It always coincides with our monthly All Hands and we often organise team lunches/drinks/activities etc to really make this day as collaborative, purposeful & fun as possible.

Approach to diversity & inclusion

Diversity & Inclusion is hugely important to us; we're a diverse team in many ways but we can always do better. We are really proud of the gender diversity at Picnic; our CEO Matt is a very proud feminist & 50% of the engineers we've hired have been female (in a world where women make up just 16% of the IT Engineering workforce, that's a real achievement).

We offer a flexible & inclusive environment to welcome everyone to bring their most authentic self to work; always discussing diverse hiring at the very beginning of the recruitment process & encouraging people from all backgrounds to apply for roles at Picnic. We commit to never discriminating based on race, colour, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, genetics, marital status, disability, or age.

What do we think of Picnic?

Picnic's employee feedback's key theme highlighted trust - something that's so important in order to thrive in your role! They have consistently high scores across the board - well done Picnic!
