What is role modelling?

Role modelling refers to where the senior leadership team leads by example. By demonstrating a commitment to work-life balance and employee well-being, companies build flexibility into their culture, not just into their policies.

When leadership teams embrace flexible working themselves, they can create a culture where it is seen as acceptable and encouraged for others to do the same. Leaders can help create a more supportive and productive work environment by promoting positive attitudes and behaviours around flexible working. This can include demonstrating how to manage time and tasks effectively when working remotely, encouraging employees to take breaks and prioritise self-care, and being flexible and accommodating when employees need to adjust their schedules. By modelling these behaviours, leaders inspire their teams to follow suit and promote a work-life balance and well-being focused culture.
