Our Story
Will Shu moved to London in 2013 he discovered a city full of great restaurants, but he was amazed that so few of them delivered food. He made it his personal mission to bring the best local restaurants direct to people’s doors.
Approach to inclusion
Our vision is simple: a workplace where everyone, no matter their background, has the opportunity to reach their full potential. That’s how we unlock real value—for our people and our business.
We take a people-first, data-informed approach to inclusion. That means we measure impact, learn continuously, and stay focused on meaningful change. From employee-led resource groups to our “Worthy of Yes” initiative—which reframes EDI around recognising the strengths already within us—we’re all about practical action over box-ticking.
Our Accelerate and Inspire programmes offer coaching in partnership with The Executive Coaching Consultancy for our female-identifying current and future leaders at Deliveroo, aiming to increase visibility and sponsorship of high-potential female talent. Coaches work with participants to help understand their personal strengths, define their career goals and maximise their impact at Deliveroo.
Our Employee Resource Groups 🌟
We have seven employee resource groups as well as our Wellbeing Network that supports our employees in feeling included, heard and seen at Deliveroo.
- Gender Equity: Their mission is to ensure women and marginalised genders at Deliveroo have a sense of community, a thriving professional support network and opportunities to develop their careers without obstacles.
- Women in Tech: Their mission is to partner effectively with the Gender Equity ERG to further grow the Women in Tech community at Deliveroo.
- Black in Roo: Their mission is to help facilitate a Deliveroo where Black employees across all markets feel their lived experience is celebrated and seen as a value-add for the culture and the business.
- Racial Equity: Their mission is to champion equity for underrepresented groups within Deliveroo and its constituents under three pillars: Equity, Trust and Community.
- Parents & Carers: Their mission is to foster a sense of belonging, understanding & empowerment for parents & carers at Deliveroo
- Deloveroo (LGBTQ+): Their mission is to provide support to LGBTQ+ Roos and allies, wherever they are. We also aim to educate our industry and the public on LGBTQ+ issues, with a focus on ending workplace discrimination and expanding work opportunities.
- Disability, Neurodiversity & Mental Health: Their mission at Deliveroo is to spread awareness of, advocate for and celebrate disabilities, neurodiversity and mental health within the Deliveroo community.
Flexible working at Deliveroo
We believe work should work for you. Whether it’s childcare, a midweek yoga class, or just needing space to focus—flexibility helps us all thrive. The majority of our teams can work remotely up to two days a week, and informal flexibility (like shifting hours for an appointment) is always open for discussion with your manager. For more permanent changes, like adjusting your hours or location, our formal flexible working policy is built to support fair and timely decisions. We aim to say “yes” wherever we reasonably can, because we know flexibility isn’t just a perk—it’s part of building a more inclusive workplace.
