Job Description

Senior Strategy & Operations Manager, New Verticals (L5)

Join us in our mission to transform the way people shop and eat, where impact, innovation, and growth drive everything we do. Our Operations team is the heart of Deliveroo—ensuring our three-sided marketplace runs safely, fairly, and efficiently. From designing robust policies to navigating complex regulatory landscapes and scaling global frameworks, we solve high-stakes challenges that protect our community. If you thrive in fast-paced environments, possess strong operational grit, and want to build trust in a global brand—this is the team for you.

We’re looking for a Senior Strategy & Operations Manager to join our New Verticals team in London. In this pivotal L5 role, you will lead complex strategic initiatives end-to-end, moving from high-level problem definition to operational delivery in the highly competitive on-demand grocery and retail market.

Get to know our Operations team — what drives us, how we work, and what you can expect.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be joining the Growth, Cost & Quality team within New Verticals. Your work will be project-based and growth-focused, offering a unique balance between high-impact strategic problem solving and seeing the real-world results of your execution.

Here’s what your day-to-day might look like:

  • Drive Strategic Direction: Lead the definition and execution of strategies to accelerate growth across the New Verticals portfolio, answering critical questions on MAUs, conversion, and basket size.

  • End-to-End Project Leadership: Spearhead strategic projects from framing the initial problem to ensuring successful operational delivery and measurable impact.

  • Strategic Modelling & Insights: Oversee complex quantitative analysis and financial modelling, translating raw data into high-stakes recommendations for the executive leadership team.

  • Cross-Functional Orchestration: Lead cross-functional ‘pods’ (Product, Commercial, Marketing, Engineering) to operationalise new initiatives and ensure execution excellence.

  • Performance Ownership: Lead the New Verticals performance framework, owning annual planning, OKR-setting, and weekly/monthly business reviews to provide the "narrative" behind the numbers.

  • Opportunity Identification: Proactively identify cost-saving or revenue-driving opportunities within the P&L to ensure we outpace the market.

What You’ll Need to Thrive

Our ideal candidate is a strategic leader who thrives in ambiguity and is focused on driving tangible results.

  • Professional Background: Strong experience (typically 4-6+ years) in management consulting, corporate strategy, finance, or a high-growth operations role.

  • Analytical & Commercial Mastery: Expert-level modelling skills with a deep understanding of P&L management and business performance drivers.

  • Proven Leadership: A track record of leading complex projects and influencing senior stakeholders within a matrixed organisation.

  • Structured Problem Solving: Ability to identify root causes, assess multi-layered risks, and implement scalable solutions with clarity and pace.

  • Communication Excellence: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to "distil" complexity for senior executives.

  • Industry Context: Experience in e-commerce, grocery, retail, or hyper-growth tech is a significant plus.
