Why this job matters

  • The role requires major focus to support Major Regional Programme Lead to deliver BT Business risk remediation projects, leading multi-disciplined teams through large and complex changes to mitigate significant risk’s impact to our customers, to BT business revenue (£8B) and possible impacts to BT brand and reputation.
  • The role holder will engage with Account Managers and customers up to and including executive level to support them during migration to alternative solution in a timely manner. It’s a key role in securing BT business operations and customers activities.
  • This team performs a pivotal role in supporting Regional Operations Management and Service Risk teams by adapt quickly and perform effectively, even when there’s ambiguity, providing fast answer to implement rapid change projects to ensure flawlessly BT operations (according to the regulatory and sanctions in place, even under high pressure environment (i.e. motivated by conflict or war circumstances) and/or tight timescales).
  • May also manage mid-size teams of Project Management Professionals and Implementation Coordinators in addition to their Project Management work as individual contributors.

What I’ll be doing – your accountabilities

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring that all BT customers who have services in risk countries are migrated before the closure date of the network or voice platforms;
  • Identify, plan and implement projects that aims to mitigate regulatory or operational significant risk for BT Business according to agreed schedule.
  • Conduct process mapping to identify areas for improvement and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Design and document new processes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and ensure process changes meet business needs.
  • Develop process maps, flowcharts, and other documentation to support process design and implementation.
  • Accountable for identifying and managing changes in scope – ensuring the appropriate governance is applied
  • Responsible for development and plan of the required project workstreams to ensure project is successfully delivered.
  • Accountable for required project documentation, manage deliveries, creating project plan, communications plans, and milestones interlocked with end customers in line with BT’s Project & Programme Management methodologies
  • Direct leadership of Project Managers and/or Project Professionals as well as own Project Management work as an individual contributor, and matrix leadership for multi-disciplined resources across the project/programme to drive successful deliveries for the customer and for BT Business
  • Supports the Risk and Operations SMT. Assumes other special projects / assignments as directed by the Director or MD.
  • Manages project costs and resources in line with commitments, managing variances to agreed plans and manages associated risks
  • Co-ordinates activities across multiple teams including the end customer to plan successful implementation of projects
  • Strong knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen.
  • Strong programme delivery experience – leading and driving delivery of large, complex, multi-million pound programmes with multi-disciplined teams and locations that drive material positive contribution to business results.
  • Ability to manage risks, issues and dependencies through the lifecycle of the project
  • Requires experience working in collaboration with multiple/ wider teams in a global environment
  • Great attention to detail and willingness to work within a fast paced and demanding environment
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and decision-making skills
  • Able to engage with a wide variety of stakeholders (at C/Director level) to collaborate and carry out the functions of the role. Maintain close connection and strong relationships with key stakeholders in the operation of project delivery
  • Highly analytical and structured, with ability to manage complexity
  • Ability to engage and resolve difficult situations (be they with teams, customers, stakeholders) – and manage challenging conversations to achieve positive business right outcomes
  • Problem solving, often engaged with problems that sit across multiple units, stakeholders and capabilities

Experience you would be expected to have

  • 5+ years' experience of leading and delivering complex proposal production/bids and projects, requiring management of medium-term and long-term timeframes
  • Experience of complex global programme delivery leadership in a solution-based customer-facing environment
  • Transformation experience – opportunity identification, optimisation and programme delivery of sustainable business improvements
  • Experienced practitioner of formal Project Management methodology: MSP, Prince2, APMP
  • Understanding of agile as well as APM frameworks in the programme delivery context
  • Experience practitioner of ITIL qualification, Risk Management Qualification or 6 Sigma.
  • Experience of working with full independence / autonomy
  • Experience in the IT/Telco domain
  • Experience in BT process, systems and project management methodology is an advantage
