This role in a nutshell:
As an Analytics Manager, you are the bridge between operational data and executive decision making. Leading a team of experienced analysts, you will inspire and empower them to create compelling MI that tells the story of our business performance.
You will work alongside other Analytics Managers as a dedicated partner to OVO’s functional leaders, ensuring that the insights we produce drive maximum impact. You act as the essential filter for your team’s workload—balancing functional "wants" against strategic "needs" to ensure focus remains on high-value discovery. You are a forward-thinking influencer, collaborating with the leadership team to shape the future of MI and articulating a clear, data-driven vision for both your functions and the wider Operations team.
Your key outcomes will be:
- Insight Business Partnering: Act as a trusted advisor to functional leaders, moving beyond reporting to offer thought leadership on how to design MI and insights that answers their most critical business questions. You will lead the narrative of performance, connecting daily trends to long-term cause-and-effect and recommendations.
- Functional Playbooks: Partner with functions to create "playbooks" that define the most important KPIs, how to interpret them, and how to use them to drive customer value.
- Capacity Advocacy: Act as the gatekeeper for your team’s capacity. You will lead prioritisation calls with leaders, ensuring the team remains focused on high-impact work while managing a transparent roadmap of planned delivery.
- Technical Mentorship: Serve as a technical escalation point for your team for SQL, data visualisation and insight presentations, ensuring our deliverables align with internal standards and best practices.
- Talent Development: Motivate, lead and develop a team of senior and mid-level analysts, whilst fostering a high-performing culture where every member understands how their work impacts strategic goals
You’ll be a successful Analytics Manager here at OVO if you…
- Are comfortable leading a team of senior analysts to drive data-driven change - helping them to understand the impact of their work and how it is connected to the wider business strategy, create clear development plans with an investment in your team’s technical and interpersonal skills.
- Passionate about partnering with senior leaders to drive better decisions - driving an improvement strategy to reduce the effort taken to understand performance and bring consistency to how we look at performance. Building a narrative of performance weekly to tell the story of performance with our operational leaders and tying this to longer term performance trends.
- Values and promotes the benefit of best in practice data quality - improving our data quality using the data maturity and metric governance framework set by our Governance team to make it easier for us to look at performance data end-to-end.
- Are able to lead prioritisation calls with senior operations leaders - creating business cases for large MI projects and able to lead conversations to effectively prioritise whilst trading off against capacity for functional priorities.
- Have mastery of the key technical skills - You possess technical mastery (SQL optimisation, visualisation best practices) and can use that expertise to coach the community and help set the "gold standard" for our analytics.
