Overview of the role
The role of the ERP Program Manager is to oversee the development and implementation of SAP Solutions program. This involves supporting the development of the SAP strategy and managing the initiatives required, prioritising deliverables, and assessing acceptable risk levels in close collaboration with management, IT leaders and business teams.

The SAP Program Manager is responsible for the delivery of the program including managing multiple projects and project teams across the group and with external consultants. The Program Manager is responsible for managing the delivery plan, aligning it with the overarching business goals and risk profile and reporting delivery progress to leadership teams. They will be responsible for tracking, and adjusting plans to ensure smooth delivery, managing and escalating project and programme risks, managing resources (including third-party contractors or consultants), project documentation, and project plans to successfully deliver IT projects and programmes. This includes ensuring program goals are met on time and within budget while fostering innovation in integrating SAP technologies with business operations.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Defining the Program: Develop and establish the SAP program goals including prioritisation, resources, and budgets to support business needs and ERP Strategies.
  • Program Management: Manage the full lifecycle of SAP projects, and provide direction and support to project managers, consultants, and other technical teams. ensuring projects remain on track, within scope and budget and they are delivered to the desired quality standards.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure SAP solutions align with business processes and organisational goals.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks that may impact program objectives.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all initiatives align with legal, regulatory, and global standards.
  • Quality Management: Oversee the integration of SAP modules to optimise business process and information flows. Lead change management efforts, ensuring smooth transition and minimal disruption during SAP deployments.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed of the latest developments in SAP technologies and industry trends to drive continuous improvement and strategic advantage.
  • Operations: Facilitate ongoing support and maintenance of SAP systems though managing major upgrades and implementing fixes.
  • Vendor Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships negotiating contracts and managing service level agreements.
  • Governance: Governance: Ensure IT PMO and project delivery governance standards are implemented, ensuring that project documents are current, to a high quality, and change control is followed.

Candidate specification

Essential criteria:

  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, computer science, project management or possesses industry-recognised qualifications and experience.
  • Proven experience as a SAP Project Manager or SAP Consultant with comprehensive knowledge of SAP architectures and SAP deployment strategies.
  • Project Management Certification such as PMP and SAP-Specific certifications.
  • Demonstrated success in managing large IT Projects across different geographies and leading cross-functional teams. Ability to align SAP Project objectives with broader business goals.
  • Strong understanding of business processes related to finance or HR and how SAP solutions can enhance operational efficiencies.
  • Experience in managing this change, capable of guiding organisations through transitions and ensuring end user adoption of new systems.
  • Excellent leadership communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Displays robust analytical skills, with the ability to effectively manage a complex program with tight timelines, thriving in dynamic and demanding environments to achieve overarching objectives.
  • Is a change agent, boasting strong negotiation and conflict resolution abilities, along with a collaborative mindset that facilitates cross-functional collaboration.
  • Possesses sound judgment, a sense of urgency, and a proven commitment to upholding high ethical standards, regulatory compliance, exceptional customer service, and business integrity.
  • Maintains poise and composure even in high-pressure situations.

Desirable criteria:

  • Demonstrates an understanding of technical aspects of SAP including SAP Basis, SAP HANA and SAP S/4HANA.

  • Has some technical background in SAP and an understanding of SAP Fiori or SAP Cloud Platform

  • Serves as a strategic leader capable of aligning project dependencies.

  • Proven experience in implementing ERP programs with SAP experience.
  • Highly organised and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional communicator able to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Proficiency in risk management, vendor, stakeholder, and budget management.
