Location: We perform at our best when we feel trusted and are able to choose an approach to working that suits us best, which is why we are a remote-first company. However, we also believe in face to face collaboration, and our UK colleagues meet once a month for team time and quarterly for company get togethers in our Leeds office, so we ask that you be within a commutable distance that you are comfortable with in order to attend the office on those occasions.

Day to day we’ll trust you to:

  • Plan and execute marketing activity to support sales and content usage in Europe.
  • Align activity to the Europe regional sales team strategy.

  • Champion the Emerald brand, articulating our position of real impact within the industry.
  • Tell the story of the importance of business and social science research and Emerald’s commitment to it.
  • Ensure regional web pages on emeraldgrouppublishing.com are relevant and up-to-date.
  • Experiment with a variety of organic and paid channels: website, social, face to face, email, advertising, sponsorship, webinars.
  • Manage our attendance at industry events ensuring a strong Emerald representation.
  • Serve as the primary marketing liaison for the Europe Sales team.
  • Oversee a regional marketing budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation and expenditure.

You’ll need to have:

  • Previous experience as a marketing manager, ideally in a related industry; publishing or academic experience is highly desirable.
  • Ability to create a marketing plan that builds awareness and drives leads.
  • An understanding of successful and modern marketing techniques.
  • Marketing skills: campaign strategy, copywriting, communication, data analysis, multi-channel marketing, lead nurturing and creativity.
  • Numerical skills: be comfortable working with numbers, making sense of metrics and processing figures.
  • Knowledge of email systems, ideally Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms (paid and organic) and social scheduling platforms.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • The ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects whilst maintaining stable performance under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

It’s more than just skills and experience, this is what we’d like to see:

  • An innovative thinker, willing to experiment with new ideas.
  • A proactive, enthusiastic team player who is able to positively take ownership of their area and inspire the same in others.
