Job Description

This is a great development opportunity for someone who’s looking to get hands on in a Chapter Lead role (the how) whilst driving key results (the what). We are looking for someone who can bring a wealth of relevant and transferable experience with particular emphasis on experience in Risk management, Crisis/incident management, Policies and governance as well as technical experience using Jira.

The role involves fostering a culture and mindset where Risk Management and risk awareness is owned by everyone, striking the balance between accountability for Risk and empowerment to get on and achieve our OKRs.

This is a Chapter Lead role within a newly formed Risk Chapter, that will in turn sit within the new Business Integrity COE (which brings the functions of (i) Legal, Regulatory & Compliance; (ii) Cyber (including Business Continuity); and (iii) Risk (including Crisis Management) together. This role will report into the Business Integrity COE Lead, a member of the TM Leadership Squad.


The must haves

In order to be considered, you must have the following experience;

Executing a leading role in promoting a "Risk Aware" culture and raising the standards of Risk Management practices across Tesco Mobile, through:

  • Driving the implementation of the Risk Management strategy enterprise-wide (and where necessary, designing it).
  • Delivering timely, clear and pertinent view of TM's risks to Senior Management, key forums/committees (such as the Board Audit Committee) and Shareholders. Responsibilities include; planning, facilitation and challenge of risk information, report production, insight presentation, and the updating of risk information in any relevant risk tools.
  • Delivering influential and insightful Risk information to partners across the business. Including: presenting and facilitating at senior level meetings and key forums (such as quarterly risk review with risk champions) and preparing and updating relevant documents such as the company wide Risk Register.
  • Lead on facilitating an accurate and relevant Risk Register through guidance, encouragement and appropriate challenge to the business on identification, assessment, reporting and management of their relevant risks.
  • The development and delivery of Risk Reporting and Key Risk Indicators; which support the monitoring, evaluation and challenge of Tesco Mobile's success in managing its risks, plus articulate opportunities.
  • Developing a robust understanding of all areas of the business, in order to effectively support partners in relation to their Risk Management.
  • Oversight and responsibility for Crisis Management, including: when to invoke the Crisis Procedure; Crisis training/drills for senior leadership; updating of Crisis Management Policy.

The ideal candidate is hands-on and tenacious, outcome-focused with experience in telecom and agile ways of working. Strong leadership, programme management, business acumen, problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills are essential.

Key skills/experience/behaviours highly desirable for this role:

  • Demonstrable experience in a Risk Management role.
  • Professional qualification in Risk Management
  • Experience designing/improving Risk Management policy, framework and processes.
  • Practical experience implementing a Risk Management framework effectively.
  • Excellent relationship building skills, building collaborate relationships at all levels. Plus the ability to negotiate, influence and challenge senior partners.
  • Excellent communications and presentation skills, to be able to inform and persuade both orally and in writing.
  • Planning skills. Demonstrates pride in quality, timeliness and reliability of delivery in fast paced environment.
