Job Title: Head Of Risk Management
Location: UK wide: We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.
Salary: Circa £85,000 + executive benefits
What you’ll be doing:
- Manage a team of Risk Management professionals
- Develop and set the risk management strategy and direction within the PM function
- Create, develop, and maintain risk management processes within the PM function
- Oversee business and portfolio risk processes within the PM function
- Establish and implement the strategy for risk management toolsets
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive plans for risk management, ADE management, opportunities management, issues management, and Lessons for Excellence (LfE) for their programme, Line of Business, or Sector
- Monitor and audit the quality, application, and effectiveness of the risk management process, including the use of risk toolsets, providing assurance to the programme and business
- Ensure effective risk management guidance and training packages are in place to support the risk team and programme
Your skills and experiences:
- Experienced professional with extensive knowledge of Risk Management (tools, techniques, practices) and good knowledge of other functions such as Commercial & Finance
- Extensive knowledge of a range of risk management methodologies and toolsets
- Comprehensive knowledge of the PM career framework including with Professional institutions
- Demonstrate good commercial awareness & how it integrates within own and wider project areas
- Communication and diplomacy skills, able to persuade and influence internal & external stakeholders, often at senior levels internally, sometimes externally

The Project Controls Capability Team:
Reporting to the Maritime & Land Project Controls Capability Director, you will lead the Risk Management function across the Maritime Sector, ensuring the establishment and maintenance of an integrated risk management framework in a high-value, complex environment. This role involves collaboration with senior leadership, programme and functional directors, and customer senior leads, requiring advanced problem-solving skills, strong diplomacy, and the ability to build trusted relationships. You will manage dual reporting for 5-10 direct reports and provide indirect functional leadership for over 60 individuals across the maritime sector, adhering to governance structures such as Lifecycle Management/OAS and CPIA benchmarking.
