This is an exciting opportunity to join an award-winning Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Team in Mott MacDonald. Reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer, you will drive the ongoing development, maturity, and execution of the Group Enterprise Risk Management Program.

This role will be suitable for an experienced Enterprise Risk Practitioner who is looking to step up to another level of responsibility by managing the delivery or our regional risk program and leading a small team.

About the role
You will be responsible for helping to support, advance, and mature our global Enterprise Risk Management Program and will have direct oversight over the regional delivery of the program.

Job responsibilities will involve directly supporting and assisting the Chief Risk Officer with the following:

Group risk framework:

  • Ongoing development and delivery of the Group’s Risk Management vision and strategy
  • Define, implement, monitor, and review key risk indicators aligned with risk appetite
  • Provide independent oversight and challenge for risk-taking activities
  • Oversee emerging risk identification and assessment
  • Review and update risk framework documentation and redesign process flow.

Regional risk management program:

  • Coordinate risk management activities across the Group
  • Ensure second-line oversight and appropriate review, challenge and escalation procedures are in place
  • Ensure regional maintenance of risk registers with meaningful, up-to-date risk information
  • Develop customized risk maturity improvement plans for regions
  • Facilitate risk deep dives and facilitate workshops as required with risk committees
  • Assist in the development and implementation of regional risk appetites and tolerances.

New technology adoption:

  • Drive the adoption and customization of new technology tools
  • Work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to configure selected tools according to specific requirements
  • Develop a comprehensive adoption plan, manage the program, and create a roadmap for utilizing digital tools
  • Anticipate potential adoption challenges and design pre-emptive solutions to ensure smooth implementation.

Training and awareness:

  • Facilitate initiatives to drive knowledge sharing and best practice in risk management across the Group as a means of establishing the Group Risk function as a centre of excellence
  • Lead risk reviews, workshops, and educational sessions for Risk Commitee members
  • Build risk management skills through Train-the-Trainer modules
  • Establish and arrange knowledge sharing sessions with a specialized risk community
  • Foster creativity and innovation to develop new ways of learning and engaging with risk.


  • Provide expertise and innovation regarding the automation of reports and dashboard reporting
  • Create visually appealing, professional presentations with meticulous attention to detail
  • Conduct data analysis on various issues and trends, identifying dependencies and emerging patterns
  • Ensure timely and comprehensive quarterly risk reporting.

Leadership and planning:

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to direct and indirect reports
  • Develop annual workplan to achieve the Team’s goals and targets
  • Propose initiatives and ideas to develop the Group Risk Team
  • Proactively engage and partner with internal stakeholders and colleagues for improved delivery of objectives.
  • You may be required to conduct other risk activities, duties and projects as assigned to enable the delivery of the business objectives.

Candidate Specification

Ideally, you will have:

  • Must be flexible to travel to the London office occasionally
  • Degree-level education in a relevant field including possession of a recognised risk management qualification
  • Established experience as an Enterprise Risk Management professional
  • Ability to manage and execute complex projects within required timelines
  • Experienced in stakeholder engagement and collaboration
  • Good knowledge of automation tools and experience in implementing risk software solutions
  • Excellent data analysis and reporting skills (proficiency in Excel; familiarity with Power BI)
  • Clear communication of complex information (written and verbal)
  • Effective presentation and group facilitation skills
  • Building strong professional relationships internally and externally
  • Analysing complex problems, identifying interrelationships, and finding common solutions
  • Demonstrated innovative thinking
  • Inquisitive nature and resourcefulness
  • Energetic and positive outlook.
