Bord Gáis Energy generates, sells and trades energy for use in the Republic of Ireland. We’ve been in operation since 1976 and today we supply over 700,000 customers with energy in Ireland. As Software Tester, your main responsibility will be testing software applications to ensure quality standards and user requirements are met. You will conduct key testing tasks to ensure the highest level of testing across the organisation, thus ensuring the stability and accuracy of critical systems.

About the Role

• Understand and gain knowledge of the key business processes to ensure sufficient coverage within any testing system change.
• Write detailed test scripts and test logs in conjunction with key business subject matter experts as appropriate
• Execution of software testing including business as usual, new features, regression, and negative testing.
• Execution of Test plan
• Provide daily status reports and contribute at meetings
• Ensure entry and exit criteria are adhered to
• Register defects in defect tracking tool and follow up on same
• Provide support to business subject matter experts regarding translation of tests results, issues, or training requirements
• Timely escalation of risks or issues as required
• Excellent consultative communication skills between IT test and design areas
• Provide process improvement ideas to enhance the testing framework and strategy

About You

• Experience in billing systems and/or utilities sector is desirable
• Any previous testing experience would be a distinct advantage
• Agile methodology experience is highly desirable
• Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills between business, design, and IT areas
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to meet challenging deadlines and work under pressure
• Ability to proactively identify and solve problems
• Passionate and enthusiastic about testing
• Good understanding of the software development life cycle
