We have an exciting new opportunity for a Project and Programme Manager within our Group Business Services function. In this role you will be key to ensuring that projects & programmes within Group Business Services and the functions it supports (HR, Procurement and Finance) meet the desired colleague and business outcomes.
Location: With our Flexible First working arrangements we empower our colleagues to work in a way that best suits them – meaning location doesn’t need to be a barrier. You must be flexible to travel as required on an ad hoc basis to specific Centrica sites depending on the project(s) being worked on however it is likely that you will be able to choose between working at home or in an office for most of your time.
You will be primarily responsible for planning and co-ordinating activities to manage and implement change from idea to close ensuring requirements are scoped, developed, and translated into plans, and business cases are created and updated. You will use appropriate tools and methodologies to track and report against plans whilst ensuring that delivery controls are in place (e.g. managing risks, issues, finances and timelines).
In addition to delivering change in the form of projects, as required, you will also manage a series of projects within a portfolio or programme environment with the associated directive responsibilities. In a portfolio or programme management capacity, the holder of this role will be required to manage the deliveries of other Project Managers although this will not necessarily involve line management responsibilities.
You will be required to provide coaching and/or direct support to all levels of management as they direct change team members through processes and deliverables. In addition, we would love you to bring strong influencing skills and the ability to bring a team together to deliver a desired outcome.
Key Accountabilities:
- Plan and co-ordinate activities to manage and implement projects and programmes from idea to close.
- Ensure business requirements are determined and translated into plans.
- Ensure business cases are created and appropriately updated to reflect any changes.
- Plan, control and manage the delivery of projects and programmes to meet the agreed business needs, acquiring and utilising the necessary resources and skills within agreed parameters of cost, timescales and quality ensuring that these match the Business’ strategic goals.
- Monitor, review and report on all project and programme attributes.
- Ensure effective business processes are defined and implemented as required.
- Manage the project or programme in line with the relevant Delivery Framework and Governance.
- Undertake stakeholder management to ensure individuals are aware of responsibilities and progress.
- Manage project/programme team and external suppliers as required.
Who are we looking for?
- Significant experience delivering large projects within a structured project delivery life cycle
- Understanding of various project methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2/APM, Agile/ Waterfall)
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem resolution skills
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills
- Strong people, team and virtual team management skills
- Experience of engaging stakeholders and customers at all levels
- Able to develop effective working relationships at all levels across the organisation, simplifying complex technical messages
- Commercial and customer awareness with a proven track record of ensuring the customer is always at the forefront of decision making
- Ability to drive performance and gain commitment through coaching, motivating, energising, and inspiring team members
