What you’ll be doing

  • Working in a small but experienced and specialised team (4 people and growing) that manages a range of Microsoft products but sits within the wider BT Digital Workplace function. BT Business currently serves over 1.2 million customers globally so there is an opportunity to have a massive impact by bringing your product area to the forefront of their offering.
  • As part of the team you would be responsible for the success of the Microsoft Licensing portfolio that currently sells 40,000 licenses per month. and is responsible for more than £2 million in annual revenue but we know we can do even better.
  • You would have full ownership of the end to end development and in-life support of this product area. Areas for improvement that have been identified so far include, operational improvements, visibility (how do we make our customers aware of the product? how we cross sell?) and ease of service (how do we make the sales and onboarding journey as simple and informative as possible for customers.

Experience and skills you would be expected to have

The ideal candidate would have both product management experience and extensive Microsoft licensing knowledge/experience but the hiring manager see's value in either type of experience so there will be consideration for those with transferable skills.

For those coming from a product background:

  • Experience owning the successful end to end launch of an enterprise/B2B cloud based product. This includes an understanding of the full product lifecycle including ideation, through to launch and any eventual managed decline.
  • You enjoy both the strategy and delivery sides of product management. There would be plenty of initiatives for you to deliver on from your first day but what is also vital is someone who is curious and will identify what needs to be improved and what needs to be built completely from scratch.

For those coming from a Microsoft licensing subject matter expert background:

  • An understanding of integrations between partners and multi vendor solutions.
  • You have previously worked in a role where your expert knowledge of Microsoft has made a measurable impact to business targets such as revenue or user numbers.

For anyone who applies:

  • Stakeholder Management - This role will involve engagement with various internal BT Group stakeholders including but not limited to 'Customer Experience' and 'Digital ' but also various external partners and vendors. This includes managing the relationship with Microsoft with regard to licensing.
  • Autonomy - You will be the sole person in your specialist area. Whilst this can be scary it also provides an excellent opportunity to take a product with unlimited potential to new heights.
  • Empathy - You are great at understanding your users, why they use a product, how they use a product and especially what their pain points are.
  • Growth Mindset - You don't rest on your laurels, you understand that the continuous pursuit of improvements is the only way to retain a competitive advantage.
  • Agile - In such a fast paced and competitive industry its vital that you are capable of breaking down challenges and reacting to changes quickly in order to maximise the value provided to users.
  • Experience working within the telecoms or managed services industry would be advantageous

  • Annual on target bonus up to 10%
  • BT Pension scheme, minimum 5% Employee contribution, BT contribution 10%
