The Technical Consulting Manager leads a team of technical consultants responsible for the implementation of complex customer solutions operating at the leading edge of Microsoft technologies. Focused on UK based multinational accounts, the role will lead a team with deep expertise in Microsoft’s cloud solutions, providing oversight and leadership on strategic work streams to implement solutions.

Representing UK Industry Solutions Delivery, Microsoft's consulting organization for complex delivery, the Technical Consulting Manager will work with Customers, Partners with account teams to ensure our contractual commitments are met in alignment to our company vision and values, such that our customers are enabled to achieve more.

Responsibilities

People Management

Technical Delivery

  • Collaborates with the account team to understand customer/partner requirements and constraints. Guides their team on understanding customer/partner requirements by providing resources as needed.
  • Drives customer obsession by ensuring all constructive feedback from Customers and internal stakeholders is obtained and addressed.
  • Guides delivery leads and their teams on managing escalations, Proactively reports/anticipates issues, analyses situations and facilitates the process of resolving complex issues in collaboration with account-aligned team as needed.
  • Guides their team in delivery consulting excellence and holds them accountable for outcomes.
  • Plans their team's work and responds to changing priorities. Supports/sponsors strategic projects (external and internal) by bridging gaps in resources and removing roadblocks.
  • Participates in workforce and capacity planning, capability building, and strategizes to address capacity gaps in terms of resource mix (e.g., full-time employees, contractors).

Intellectual Property Management

  • Ensures readiness of team and knowledge sharing in alignment with business needs. Encourages their team in reusing, creating, and sharing delivery intellectual property (IP).

Readiness

  • Ensures their team achieves the relevant certification(s) and accreditation in alignment with requirements.
  • Completes all required personal and team training and/or certifications for their technology focus area and provides support for their team in obtaining and completing necessary training.
  • Coaches their team and acts as a trusted advisor for stakeholders by providing thought leadership and delivery strategies.

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field AND Proven years of leadership experience in Technical delivery OR equivalent experience.
  • Hands on experience with the software development lifecycle.
  • Proven years customer facing experience or client delivery experience.
  • Proven years team leadership or people management experience, with or without direct reports.
  • Technical certifications in cloud solutions (eg Azure or M365).

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Delivery Management certification (e.g., Scrum, Agile, Project Management).
  • Proven years of leadership experience in technical delivery OR equivalent experience.
  • Proven years of customer facing experience or client delivery experience.
  • Proven years of people management experience.
