You will be helping the enablement and adoption lead for Consumer, Networks and Group, accelerating the uptake of our data & AI governance standards, controls, and tooling. By building capability, championing best practice, and hard wiring governance into everyday ways of working, you’ll lift data quality, reduce risk, and unlock compliant value from data and AI at scale. This role helps modernise governance by using AI enabled tooling and workflows to remove friction and increase adoption

What you’ll be doing – your accountabilities

  • Support governance adoption: Guide teams to complete SIAs, AI Inventory, and control evidence; ensure governance processes are followed and issues are resolved.
  • Drive tooling and automation: Champion the use of data governance tools and AI agents to automate catalogue, lineage, and DQ tasks; validate outputs for quality and compliance.
  • Enable change and capability: Deliver training and clear guidance on governance and AI tools; gather feedback and support the Senior Manager in adoption plans.
  • Manage stakeholders and issues: Act as first-line support for governance and AI workflows; escalate risks and blockers with evidence-based recommendations.
  • Report and assure: Track adoption KPIs, maintain dashboards, and prepare insights for governance forums and assurance cycles.

The skills you’ll need to succeed

  • AI agent & workflow automation: Able to build and configure AI agents using BT-approved platforms (e.g., Copilot Studio, Power Platform); design and refine automated governance workflows.
  • Data & AI governance: Solid grasp of governance frameworks (DCAM, DMBOK, CDMC), BT’s operating model, and AI Playbook requirements.
  • Responsible AI & compliance: Understand privacy, security, and AI governance guardrails; ensure compliance in all automation and agent activities.
  • Change enablement: Skilled in delivering training, comms, and support to drive adoption of governance and AI tools.
  • Problem solving & collaboration: Diagnose and resolve issues in governance processes and automation; work effectively with product, engineering, and compliance teams.

Experience you’d be expected to have

  • 8–10 years in data governance, automation, or AI enablement roles (BT experience preferred).
  • Hands-on experience building AI agents or automated workflows using Copilot Studio, Power Platform, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with linking agents to enterprise data sources (SharePoint, OneDrive, data catalogues, APIs).
  • Practical knowledge of BT’s AI Governance framework and responsible AI principles.
  • Proven ability to deliver training, support adoption, and manage stakeholder needs in complex environments.

About us

BT Group was the world’s first telco and our heritage in the sector is unrivalled. As home to several of the UK’s most recognised and cherished brands – BT, EE, Openreach and Plusnet, we have always played a critical role in creating the future, and we have reached an inflection point in the transformation of our business.

Over the next two years, we will complete the UK’s largest and most successful digital infrastructure project – connecting more than 25 million premises to full fibre broadband. Together with our heavy investment in 5G, we play a central role in revolutionising how people connect with each other.

While we are through the most capital-intensive phase of our fibre investment, meaning we can reward our shareholders for their commitment and patience, we are absolutely focused on how we organise ourselves in the best way to serve our customers in the years to come. This includes radical simplification of systems, structures, and processes on a huge scale. Together with our application of AI and technology, we are on a path to creating the UK’s best telco, reimagining the customer experience and relationship with one of this country’s biggest infrastructure companies.

Change on the scale we will all experience in the coming years is unprecedented. BT Group is committed to being the driving force behind improving connectivity for millions and there has never been a more exciting time to join a company and leadership team with the skills, experience, creativity, and passion to take this company into a new era.
