Job Description

About the role

We’re building a brand-new creative team within BT’s in-house agency The Exchange, creating the ideas that will shape some of the UK’s most recognisable consumer brands.

This is an opportunity for an experienced creative team consisting of a Copywriter and Art Director, or individuals who thrive in a true creative partnership. You’ll work alongside creative leadership, strategists, social teams, designers and brand stakeholders to develop distinctive, integrated campaign ideas that connect with millions of consumer customers across the UK.

Success in this role means creating bold, strategically grounded work that performs across channels, builds brand impact, and helps establish our in-house creative team as a destination for outstanding creative thinking. You’ll have the freedom to shape new ways of working, influence the creative output of major brands, and contribute to work that has the potential to earn industry recognition.

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop original creative concepts that solve business and customer challenges in compelling, unexpected ways.
  • Create integrated campaign ideas that work seamlessly across social, digital, CRM, TV, radio, print, outdoor and emerging channels.
  • Build creative territories that can scale across multiple touchpoints without losing their impact.
  • Collaborate closely with strategists, designers, digital specialists and production partners to bring ideas to life.
  • Challenge briefs constructively to ensure creative work is built on strong insight and clear strategic thinking.
  • Present and sell creative ideas confidently to stakeholders, building understanding and alignment around the concept.
  • Produce work that is distinctive, on-brand and effective across every customer touchpoint.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of craft across both words and visuals, ensuring quality from concept through to final delivery.
  • Direct and collaborate with production partners, photographers, filmmakers and specialist creatives to achieve outstanding creative outcomes.
  • Bring cultural insight, creative curiosity and new thinking into every project, helping shape the future of the in-house creative function.
  • Contribute beyond your own briefs, helping elevate the quality of ideas across the wider creative team.
  • Help build the reputation of the creative team through impactful work that delivers commercial and brand outcome

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Strong experience as a creative professional within a leading advertising agency, creative studio or in-house agency environment.
  • A standout portfolio that demonstrates exceptional conceptual thinking and the ability to develop big campaign ideas from insight through to execution.
  • Demonstrated success working within a creative partnership with proven experience creating integrated campaigns across TV, press, social, CRM/direct marketing, digital and customer experience channels.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Experience in telecoms, technology, or complex B2C categories
  • Award-winning or industry-recognised creative work (D&AD, Cannes, The Drum, Creative Circle etc.)
  • Experience directing motion, animation, or digital interactive work
  • Previous in-house agency or brand-side creative experience
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted creative tools and emerging visual production techniques
  • Strong understanding of social and social-first creative, with the ability to create ideas that resonate across modern digital platforms.
  • Experience developing ideas that scale across multiple channels while maintaining a consistent creative platform and brand identity.
  • Strong presentation and influencing skills, with the confidence to sell creative thinking to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Curious, collaborative and passionate about creativity, culture and emerging trends, with a desire to push ideas further and challenge convention
