Job Description

Job Title: Governance Operations – Accounts Assistant

Location: Preston. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Circa £30,000 depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assist the Senior Accountant in ensuring the Governance Capability Centre’s, Governance Risk and Control (GRC) product support package is efficient and effective
  • Attend COSA launch and support sessions to capture guidance for GRC toolset training videos
  • Implement and monitor an automated 1st line triage, ensuring agile responses to tickets and queries, and escalate issues when necessary
  • Review monthly and quarterly GRC tool outputs, resolve identified exceptions, and report best practices to stakeholders
  • Administer and maintain the GRC tool through a controlled change control process incorporating stakeholder feedback for continuous improvement
  • Demonstrate the GRC tool’s role in achieving effective financial control by validating key control designs and identifying early control issues
  • Promote the use of systems, processes, and emerging technologies to enhance operations through automation, data intelligence, and standardisation

Your skills and experiences:

  • Exposure to finance and data analytics, with a keen interest in advancing your career within finance
  • Familiar with Business Intelligence tools like Power BI and Tableau to provide stakeholders with clear, customised data views for better decision-making would be desirable
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail, able to communicate system and user issues and resolutions to both technical and non-technical personnel
  • Studying a finance qualification would be advantageous or the eagerness to undertake a financial qualification

The Finance Team:

This role is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to excel, working independently while engaging with a diverse array of stakeholders across the Enterprise. You will assist the Governance Capability Centre with their Governance, Risk and Control product support package ensuring it is efficient and effective. You will play a key role in maintaining a robust internal controls framework that minimises financial risks and enhances the reliability of financial reporting. You’ll be at the forefront of driving continuous improvements and ensuring a smooth onboarding process for new users. With a global reach, you’ll interact with stakeholders at all levels, and for the right candidate, there is the prospect of pursuing a finance qualification after 12 months in role.
