At Pets at Home, we’re investing in our mobile experience to better connect pet owners with the products, services and care they need. As a Senior App Developer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and scaling our mobile app, combining hands-on engineering with technical leadership to deliver high-quality, customer-focused solutions.

The role offers hybrid working from our Support Office in Handforth, Cheshire.

What you’ll be doing

  • Guiding architecture and design decisions within your squad
  • Writing and maintaining unit and end-to-end tests (Jest, React Testing Library, Maestro)

  • Proactively identifying risks and supporting smooth, predictable delivery
  • Mentoring and coaching developers, fostering capability and knowledge sharing

What you’ll bring

  • Strong experience building React Native apps (TypeScript, Redux, RTK Query, Navigation, Firebase)
  • Deep understanding of mobile architecture (state management, APIs, performance, lifecycle)
  • Experience with testing frameworks and end-to-end testing
  • A passion for clean, maintainable code and continuous improvement
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical decisions
  • Experience working collaboratively across cross-functional Agile teams
  • Commitment to accessible, inclusive mobile experiences

Nice to have

  • Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure)
  • Knowledge of native iOS/Android technologies (Swift, Kotlin etc.)

Why join us?

  • Play a key role in shaping a high-impact, customer-facing mobile app
  • Combine hands-on engineering with technical leadership and mentoring
  • Work in a collaborative, forward-thinking tech environment
  • Be part of a business with real purpose, helping pets live happier, healthier lives

If you’re a senior engineer who thrives on ownership, enjoys mentoring others and loves building high-quality mobile experiences, we’d love to hear from you.

Pets just see people. They aren’t biased and they don’t discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don’t perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!
