As a Business Analyst, you’ll play a key role in turning business needs into clear, actionable insights supporting the delivery of change across complex, cross-functional initiatives.

This role is ideal for an analyst who enjoys problem-solving, collaboration and working across the full change lifecycle, while continuing to develop their craft in a supportive, high-performing environment.

The role

Your purpose is to support the successful delivery of transformation initiatives by identifying business needs, analysing processes and defining requirements that enable effective solutions. You’ll work across multiple portfolios, partnering with stakeholders and delivery teams to ensure alignment, clarity and value.

You’ll also contribute to the continuous improvement of business analysis standards, tools and techniques, helping to shape a growing in-house Business Analysis capability.

This role follows a hybrid working model, with three days per week onsite in Warrington.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Investigate operational issues, problems and opportunities, identifying effective business solutions
  • Analyse underlying issues and root causes, identifying options and recommendations
  • Define business requirements, data needs, data objects and information flows
  • Support the design of holistic solutions covering people, process, information and technology
  • Contribute to business cases by helping justify change initiatives and proposed solutions
  • Apply appropriate analysis techniques to model and document business areas or systems
  • Select and apply the most suitable tools and methods to address problems early and effectively
  • Support proof-of-concept and prototyping activities to assess feasibility and value
  • Apply quality standards to ensure deliverables are accurate, complete and fit for purpose
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, understanding their needs, influence and priorities

Support the continuous improvement of Business Analysis practices and documentation standards

About the team

You’ll join the Business Change Team within the CEO Office, giving you a unique, enterprise-wide perspective across United Utilities.

  • Be part of shaping a new in-house Business Analysis function
  • Work across large-scale transformation programmes and portfolios
  • Collaborate with experienced change and transformation professionals
  • Tackle complex, organisation-wide challenges using a holistic problem-solving approach

Help build communities of practice, promote the BA service and educate the business on change

What you’ll bring

Essential

  • BCS Practitioner Certificate in Business Analysis (or equivalent experience)
  • Demonstrated experience delivering business analysis across project lifecycles
  • Exposure to both Agile and traditional delivery approaches
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Visio or similar platforms
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Desirable

  • Agile or SAFe certification (e.g. AgileBA, SAFe BA)
  • Experience supporting complex change or transformation initiatives
  • Sector experience (utilities, finance, digital or enterprise transformation)
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Business, Technology or a related field
