Senior DevOps Platform Engineer – Auckland

At Mott MacDonald NZ, we’re building a modern internal development platform that empowers our teams to deliver high-quality digital products safely and efficiently. We’re now looking for a Senior DevOps Platform Engineer with awareness of Software engineering to help us scale our platform and uplift engineering across our global business.

What We’re Looking For

An experienced Kubernetes and DevOps person to help build our internal development platform. A suitable candidate will have a background working alongside software developers, and have an awareness of the Software Development Lifecycle and best practices.

Essential Experience

• Strong DevOps / Platform Engineering background

• Hands-on Kubernetes expertise (K8s/EKS/AKS)

• Experience with:

• Docker

• Terraform

• Bash/Powershell

• CI/CD pipelines and modern engineering practices

• 5+ years professional experience with evidence of career progression

• Auckland-based

Preferred

• NZ industry experience

• Experience building scalable systems/platforms

• Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), automation, observability, security practices, networking

• Experience building automation with various programming languages

What You’ll Do

• Build and evolve our internal development platform

• Work with modern cloud-native architecture and large-scale data flows

• Improve testing, deployment, and automation across the engineering lifecycle

• Own technical solution design, delivery, and quality

• Collaborate globally and mentor engineers within the team

You’re a proactive engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, contributing across the stack, and enabling others to work better. You value quality, stability, and building things the right way. You’re comfortable mentoring peers and working in a collaborative environment.
