Job Description

About Motorway

Motorway is the UK’s fastest-growing used car marketplace – our award winning, online-only platform connects private car sellers with over 7,500 verified dealers nationwide, who compete to offer the best price. Founded in 2017, our technology makes the process refreshingly easy, earning us an 'Excellent' Trustpilot rating with over 70,000 reviews. We're not just building a platform; we're changing how people sell cars.

Backed by leading investors like Index Ventures and ICONIQ Growth, and following a successful $190 million funding round, we're on a mission to transform the used car market.

About the team

👋 Hi, I'm Georgia, Head of CX Transformation at Motorway. I lead a dynamic team focused on optimising the customer experience and driving improvement for our online used car marketplace. We're passionate about revolutionising the car industry by making buying and selling cars online a seamless and enjoyable experience for everyone. Our team plays a crucial role in shaping Motorway's future, collaborating closely with other departments to identify opportunities, implement innovative solutions, and ultimately, accelerate our growth. If you're a strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to make a real impact on a rapidly growing company, then this is the team for you!

About the role

We’re looking for a Business Operations Associate to take ownership of initiatives that improve the experience for our sellers at every stage of their journey — from initial enquiry, through the sales process, to post-sale support and admin. You’ll work closely with teams across Motorway – including finance, product, engineering, sales, dealer, payments and transport – to align on shared goals and drive meaningful improvements.

You’ll need to approach problems with a strategic mindset (spotting practical ways to improve the customer journey), dive into the detail (analysing metrics and building financial models to identify and validate opportunities), and turn plans into action by working closely with our operational teams. Success in this role means strong prioritisation, clear communication, and being comfortable managing multiple stakeholders in a fast-moving environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Support the definition of improvement plans across the CX operation, articulating how these will enhance the Seller experience, and the role that partner teams will play in delivering these plans

  • Deep dive on financial and operational metrics to identify short term and long term improvement opportunities

  • Build financial models to prioritise opportunities and set clear KPIs for the initiatives, including phased goals for partner teams

  • Drive and track delivery of the goals / KPIs for priority initiatives, coordinating across partner teams to ensure they are on track to meet their deliverables

About you

  • Experience in e-commerce (ideally with marketplace experience) and/or program management delivery in a fast moving environment

  • Experience in consulting is also beneficial given the importance of business analytics and modelling in this role

  • Demonstrable experience in:

    • Setting short-term and long-term goals on strategic initiatives

    • Analysing metrics and key performance indicators

    • Program managing initiatives to ensure delivery of results on time and to a high standard

    • Working autonomously in a highly demanding and often ambiguous environment

    • Working cross-functionally across multiple teams (sales, finance, operation and product/ engineering)

You could be a great fit if

  • You are passionate about transforming industries and delivering exceptional customer experiences.

  • You enjoy collaborating with diverse teams and building strong relationships with stakeholders.

  • You are a proactive problem-solver with a data-driven approach to decision-making.

Interview process

Our interview process contains the following stages:

  • Initial Screen with Talent Team - 30 minutes

  • Hiring Manager Interview - 45 minutes

  • Skills Assessment - 60 minutes

  • Exec Interview - 60 minutes

You can expect to hear back from us within a week of each interview stage. You'll have the opportunity to speak with a talent partner throughout the interview process should you have any questions or need any type of accommodations.
