In this new role, you will manage and grow a team of attorneys who provide legal advice to HR and business clients outside the U.S. on international employment law issues. You will lead the team in developing and scaling our global employment law support model, in close collaboration with the U.S.-based employment law teams as well as the global HR team. This work will include identifying the highest impact issues for legal advice, building processes to provide efficient and streamlined advice, and driving the adoption of technologies that will scale and accelerate these processes.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead the creation of a scalable and sustainable employment law support model outside the US by identifying the highest impact opportunities for support, creating resources and guidance for local HR teams, implementing technology tools, and developing relationships with clients, CELA, and key outside counsel.
  • Manage global employment law attorneys who provide legal advice to HR and business clients globally.
  • Act as the primary employment law advisor to the Geo HR Leadership team outside the U.S. and GM, HR Consulting regarding labor and employment law matters outside the U.S., serving as a key business partner and valued legal advisor by providing actionable advice on a wide range of labor and employment law issues and collaborating and advising on strategy to drive meaningful conversations that are grounded in in-depth understanding of people and business issues.
  • Identify and anticipate highly complex legal and regulatory issues impacting Microsoft’s global workforce and lead the development of associated strategies and solutions.
  • Develops and advances outside counsel strategy to support the global employment law support model.
  • Identify and lead the team in adopting new tools and processes to evolve and further modernize our legal support model.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of Juris Doctorate Degree or Equivalent International Degree OR a Legal Apprenticeship.
  • Active license to practice law in a jurisdiction and capable of meeting admission requirements in relevant jurisdiction.
  • 10+ years’ experience as a practicing attorney OR equivalent practice of law
  • Experience advising clients on global employment law issues.
  • Experience using technology and/or advising technology clients.
  • 7+ years’ experience advising on international employment law, such as EU regulations, works councils and other international labor relations issues, collective consultations, and multi-jurisdictional compliance issues.

Law firm experience or in-house counsel experience

1+ year(s) people management experience
