What you'll bring to the team

VP of Delivery

Reporting to the EVP, Global Chief Digital & Information Officer, the VP of Delivery will lead Merlin’s enterprise-wide technology change portfolio, driving strategic transformation across the business. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for making technology a key growth enabler.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of Merlin Technology’s global transformation portfolio.
  • Oversee a delivery organisation of 50+ across programme mobilisation, governance, execution, and benefits realisation.
  • Manage portfolio performance across scope, budget, risk, quality, and timelines.
  • Drive enterprise prioritisation and sequencing with business, finance, and transformation leaders.
  • Own governance standards, executive reporting, and portfolio decision-making forums.
  • Oversee delivery budgets, vendor performance, and commercial outcomes.
  • Ensure operational readiness, successful adoption, and measurable business impact post go-live.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven senior leadership experience delivering complex enterprise technology transformation programmes.
  • Strong portfolio governance, financial management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to influence at Executive and Board level.
  • Experience leading large, matrixed global delivery teams.
  • Strategic thinker with a strong focus on value delivery, operational excellence, and change adoption.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven Delivery leadership in group-wide programmes: The ability to mobilise the entire organisation to achieve delivery through collaboration and drive.
  • Has the ability to lead delivery with vulnerability but surety of the vision, purpose and alignment with CDIO and ExCo.
  • Demonstrable experience in a role in a global organisation. High emotional intelligence to agitate and drive delivery, whilst being sensitive to alignments.
  • Strategic and financial acumen: A deep understanding of business operations and financial performance to ensure delivery efforts drive measurable business outcomes, which are owned by the business but curated and sequenced by this role.
  • ‘Real’ delivery expertise: Extensive experience with program management methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid models. However, real examples of these are a must in the last 5-10 years.
  • Superior communication and influence: Skilled at telling a story about the ‘reason to deliver’ to inspire and motivate others, from front-line staff to board members. Building Delivery confidence for Merlin (and Merlin Technology).
  • Adaptability and resilience: The capacity to lead through complexity and ambiguity while remaining outcome-focused.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in project management software, budgeting tools, and safety compliance protocols.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership abilities with experience in managing cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills for presenting ideas, reports, and resolving issues.
  • Adaptability: Comfort in handling diverse projects and rapidly responding to challenges and changes. Especially with a CDIO that often changes pace (upwards) over a 3-year cycle.
