We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Rights Director to join our team. The Human Rights Director will be responsible for developing, and overseeing human rights policies, programs, and initiatives across the organization.

This individual will collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with international human rights standards. This role is a critical leader, enabler and strategic partner across the Mars organization, not only to corporate programs, but to segment led initiatives across critical supply chains.

What are we looking for?

  • 12+ years of experience in similar role within a global business/corporation.
  • Expert in the area of Global Sustainability and Human Rights.
  • Systems thinker with proven ability to embed decision making and risk management on human rights into a highly distributed, multi-faceted business
  • Experience taking human rights standards and frameworks and converting them into relevant strategies and actions
  • Strong line manager capabilities with experience developing strong teams
  • Ability to leading and influence through change
  • Experience demonstrating actions of continuous improvement in advancing its human right work

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Provide world-class subject-matter-expertise, strategic guidance and thought-leadership to the business in the area of human rights;
  • Set and implement global strategies, policies and programs across priority areas of human rights;
  • Manage high performing team to execute programs and priorities within Mars focused on respect for human rights;
  • Provide guidance and support to business segments and functional teams on integrating human rights considerations into decision-making processes and operations.
  • Monitor and evaluate human rights performance metrics and develop reports for senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Develop training and capability building programs to educate employees on human rights principles, policies, and best practices.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on human rights issues, trends, and emerging topics, both internally and externally.
  • Represent the company in relevant forums, conferences, and working groups related to human rights and corporate social responsibility
  • Draft, review, and/or approve relevant documents and resources in support of Thriving People programs;
  • Proactively identify opportunities for Mars to support emerging policies and public statements in line with Mars’s values and principles;
  • Partner with Corporate Affairs and Legal to support external engagements and strategic initiatives, such as Mars' representation and engagement with the Consumer Goods Forum, and other associations or consortiums working to address human rights issues;
  • Oversee required and voluntary reporting on human rights
