Job Description

Hofy is redefining the way organisations oversee their remote and hybrid workplaces and we are looking for a detail-oriented Tax Manager with a solid understanding of international tax and VAT mechanisms to join our talented finance team. Reporting to the Senior Financial Controller the Tax Manager will work across all aspects of tax including VAT data preparation, tax filings, reporting, reconciliation and forecasting.

This is an exciting role which offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial success of Hofy while expanding your expertise in tax and VAT processes.

The Role:

Corporate and International Tax:

  • Prepare the data and analysis for the UK, NL and US (Federal and State) corporate tax reporting for the annual statutory and group accounts.
  • Prepare the data and analysis for the UK, NL and US (Federal and State) corporate tax returns, US property tax returns and US 1099 filings.
  • Manage the forecasting for tax payments for the US and NL entities.
  • Prepare the UK tax return.
  • Assist with the analysis and preparation of the R&D tax credit with our 3rd party advisers.
  • Preparation of corporate tax account reconciliations.
  • Prepare the periodic Transfer Pricing calculations and Manage Inter-company accounting.
  • Maintain the Transfer Pricing documentation.
  • Monitor international tax risks.

VAT and Sales taxes:

  • Prepare Data for the monthly NL EC Sales List and liaise with our 3rd party adviser answering their questions.
  • Prepare the Data for the quarterly NL VAT return, liaise with our 3rd party adviser answering their queries and providing documents they request.
  • Prepare the data for the historic NL supplemental returns and liaise with our 3rd party adviser.
  • Review the US Sales tax filings and reconcile to the reports before filing. Monitor and track when additional Sales Tax registrations are required and register as needed.
  • Prepare the UK VAT, correcting errors as needed and maximise VAT recoverable.
  • Prepare the monthly/quarterly VAT/Sales Tax reconciliations for all registrations and calculate any adjustments required.
  • Maintain the Avalara tax engine and be the point of contact for all related queries as they arise.
  • Work with our 3rd party adviser to recover foreign VAT incurred and also assist in modelling to identify the cost benefit analysis of other VAT registrations.

What you need to succeed:

  • You’re qualified: You are ACA/ACCA and CTA qualified with 2+ years tax experience in a similar capacity.
  • Technical proficiency: You have Excellent Excel processing skills.
  • You’re In the know: You have a solid understanding of VAT mechanisms as well as basic accounting concepts and principles such as reconciliation and double entry.
  • Motivation and discipline: You're a self starter with an eye for detail who self assesses before handing over for review.
  • Eloquence: You have great communication and presentation skills.

Bonus experience:

  • Experience working within a start-up organisation would be a plus!
