Job Description

About Faculty

Faculty transforms organisational performance through safe, impactful and human-led AI.

We are Europe’s leading applied AI company, and saw its potential a decade ago - long before the current hype cycle.

We were founded in 2014 with our Fellowship programme, training academics to become commercial data scientists.

Today, we provide over 300 global customers with industry-leading software, and bespoke AI consultancy for retail, healthcare, energy, and governmental organisations, as well as our award winning Fellowship.

Our expertise and safety credentials are such that OpenAI asked us to be their first technical partner, helping customers deploy cutting-edge generative AI safely.

Our high-impact work has saved lives through forecasting NHS demand during covid, produced green energy by routing boats towards the wind, slashed marketing spend by predicting customer spending habits, and kept children safe online.

AI is an epoch-defining technology. We want people to join us who can help our customers reap its enormous benefits safely.

What you'll be doing:

This role reports to our Head of Sales Operations , and sits within our Applied AI consultancy part of the business.

As Bids and Tenders Manager, you will lead and project manage some of our largest bids, focused particularly on the public sector. You will be responsible for the quality of all aspects of our bids, including written documentation and presentations - bringing together expertise from across Faculty to craft a proposition of the intellectual and thoughtful calibre for which Faculty is renowned.

We’ll look to you also for continuous improvement suggestions to our overall bids and tenders operations.

Day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Management of the end-to-end bid process

  • Production and delivery of compliant, professionally produced proposals and government tender responses within customer defined timeframe

  • Lead Bid/No Bid exercises to decide whether to submit.

  • Assess tender requirements; define timelines, responsibilities and resource requirements which follow from this

  • Ensure clarification questions are posed in a timely manner, and responses are communicated

  • Define and communicate delivery plan; ensure individuals are aware of their roles and deliverables

  • Gather technical, commercial, financial, and legal information from the business in a structured manner

  • Convene key milestone meetings of the bid team as necessary

  • Engage with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) responsible for providing content in response to the tender document. Follow-up proactively.

  • Draft/edit certain aspects of bid responses

  • Establish, update, and publish a tracker for the bid team ensure the wider bid team

Who we’re looking for:

  • Demonstrable experience of end-to-end bid management

  • Experience managing a knowledge database

  • Relevant tender experience; leading the bid process from a private company to government or the wider public sector

  • Aptitude for a start-up environment - strategic, proactive, organised, pragmatic, delivery focused.

  • Ability to source and distil information from a wide range of subject matter experts

  • Outstanding project management skills. Experienced in agile methodology.

  • Customer-focused throughout the bid compilation

  • Good bid-writing and presentational skills

We like people who combine expertise and ambition with optimism -- who are interested in changing the world for the better -- and have the drive and intelligence to make it happen. If you’re the right candidate for us, you probably:

  • Think scientifically, even if you’re not a scientist - you test assumptions, seek evidence and are always looking for opportunities to improve the way we do things

  • Love finding new ways to solve old problems - when it comes to your work you don’t believe in ‘good enough’.

  • Are pragmatic and outcome-focused - you know how to balance the big picture with the little details and know a great idea is useless if it can’t be executed in the real world

Should you join us, you will work with a group of exceptional technical and commercial individuals who are continually learning from, and challenging, one other. Your knowledge, commitment and ideas will play a vital part in Faculty continuing to set the standard for the innovative, responsible deployment of AI across every facet of our lives.

What we can offer you:

The Faculty team is diverse and distinctive, and we all come from different personal, professional and organisational backgrounds. We all have one thing in common: we are driven by a deep intellectual curiosity that powers us forward each day.

Faculty is the professional challenge of a lifetime. You’ll be surrounded by an impressive group of brilliant minds working to achieve our collective goals. Our consultants, product developers, business development specialists, operations professionals and more all bring something unique to Faculty, and you’ll learn something new from everyone you meet. You’ll also have the opportunity to make your mark on a high-growth start-up now poised to expand internationally.
