Senior Product Manager - Platform

Job Description

Reporting into the VP, Services, the successful candidate will support the ongoing development and maintenance of the business’ customer-facing content platforms by prioritizing and supporting the work of critical internal systems and consumer-facing products.

As the primary account manager for our third party partnerships, you’ll build strong relationships with those partners, and represent the business and internal stakeholders to ensure we have a clear roadmap in place for our customer facing platforms, benefitting from community development and any business-led initiatives, and that appropriate integrations are in place with our back end systems via our middleware.

This involves driving forward a balanced roadmap of upgrades and enhancements aligned to third-party roadmaps as well as key Emerald-led initiatives, working closely with other product managers on key areas of development as well as with other parts of the business to ensure we are making the right decisions for the business and for our customers.

Please note - you will work mostly from home, but you will be required to attend our Leeds office once a month for team days, and quarterly for company events.

Day to day we’ll trust you to:   

  • Product management of our 3rd party platforms supporting our library and author customers, prioritizing feature requests in conjunction with the broader product management team and stakeholders, and escalating issues to the 3rd party vendor.
  • Drive and deliver on a balanced digital roadmap to enable the business to achieve their annual Objectives and Key Results and supporting with appropriate Indicators. The roadmap should benefit from upgrades and enhancements via the third party roadmap, as well as any Emerald-led initiatives.
  • Account management for third party platform vendors, including developing strong relationships, monitoring SLAs and holding third parties to account for delivery to them and appropriate management and escalation of issues.
  • Collaborate with legal, UX and our third party provider to manage the accessibility roadmap, providing the voice of the customer and ensuring the business is compliant with industry standards.
  • Support Identity and Access Management protocols and the delivery of a seamless access and authentication experience for our customers across our platforms.
  • In conjunction with cross-functional teams, support on digital activity to support delivery of a new Emerald Service layer to ensure benefit realization for customers and internal staff.
  • Provide guidance to our product team to establish how new software products would interact and connect with existing platforms in the overall architecture.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders across the business.
  • Provide ad hoc product management support to other parts of the business to support focus on problems we are trying to solve and prioritize the right activities for the business.
  • Prioritize work by approving and disproving various tasks, and help make prioritization tradeoffs more smooth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to deliver value through continuous discovery and agile development, comfortably shifting between different stages of product and solution life-cycle and identification of measures of success for all digital outputs.

  • An understanding of product prioritization
  • Line management experience desirable
