We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that's energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion, and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently - we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.

About your team:

We’re the pride of Ireland. Bord Gáis Energy have been powering the nation’s homes and businesses for almost 40 years. But now, we’re so much more than just gas and electric. Through our unique combination of household heroes and energy assets, we’re at the heart of the energy transition in Ireland, strengthening the country’s energy security and helping customers get ready for a net zero future.

🚀 Strategy Planning and Market Intelligence Manager
📍 Location: Dublin (Flexible First – Hybrid Working, 2 days in the office), travel to our London and/or Reading offices required🕒 Full-Time – Permanent

We are looking for an experienced professional to support strategy development for Bord Gáis Energy Retail Consumer Function. This role will work closely with senior strategy leaders in Ireland, acting as the key representative of the Centrica Home strategy team, helping to translate Home and Group-level strategy into clear, actionable plans backed by market insights relevant to the Irish market.

The role has a strong emphasis on strategy definition, market intelligence, competitive insight, and understanding Irish market dynamics to inform what is customer, commercially and operationally possible across energy and services products. It will also play an important role in shaping future thinking on net zero and low-carbon products, ensuring alignment with Irish and EU emissions and climate goals.

What you'll be doing:

  • Owning the end-to-end development of Bord Gáis Energy’s Retail Home strategy by providing high-quality analysis and insight
  • Accountable for the end‑to‑end Shape / planning process for Bord Gáis Retail, coordinating all inputs and ensuring alignment with financial plans, working closely with the Centrica Home strategy team, developing assumptions, market sizing/context and coordinating input from Irish teams to the process
  • Own the market-sizing model and forecasts for Bord Gáis consumer markets
  • Own strategic performance tracking, including defining KPIs, monitoring delivery and recommending interventions
  • Lead cross-functional alignment across Commercial, Finance and Operations to deliver agreed strategic priorities
  • Act as a bridge between Bord Gáis Energy Consumer, Centrica Home team and Group Strategy, translating strategy and initiatives into an Irish market context for the Consumer function
  • Build a strong understanding of the Irish energy and services market, including customer needs, regulatory environment, and market dynamics
  • Deliver ongoing market intelligence, including competitor analysis, product benchmarking, and tracking of market trends
  • Assess what is feasible and achievable in the Irish market, informing strategy, product development, and prioritisation decisions
  • Lead evaluation of M&A / partnerships for Bord Gáis retail growth, in alignment with Centrica Home's growth strategy.
  • Define, prioritise and track delivery of strategic initiatives and transformation overlays; from concept to initiative, from hypothesis setting to validation, working closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Monitor and analyse trends in net zero, decarbonisation, and low-carbon technologies, with a focus on implications for future products and services,
  • Support alignment of strategic thinking with Irish and EU climate and emissions targets
  • Produce clear, concise insights and materials for senior stakeholders to support decision-making
  • Working cross functionally within Bord Gáis Energy to coordinate areas and final submissions throughout the Shape, GAP and reforecasting process to ensure it is aligned with the strategic plan.

Problem Solving & Decision Making

  • Addresses business questions that are complex and often ambiguous, requiring the interpretation of incomplete or conflicting information to form reasoned conclusions and practical recommendations
  • Develops and applies original analytical approaches, models and scenarios to explore strategic choices, assess risks and opportunities, and test assumptions relevant to the Irish energy and services market
  • Exercises discretion in determining how problems are structured, analysed and communicated, operating within established strategic direction, regulatory frameworks and governance requirements
  • Balances multiple considerations including commercial viability, customer impact, regulatory constraints, operational feasibility and decarbonisation objectives when forming recommendations and highlighting trade‑offs
  • Works with a high degree of autonomy in day‑to‑day problem solving; decisions typically influence strategic options and priorities, with final approval residing with senior leaders
  • Adapts thinking and recommendations in response to changing market conditions, new information or shifting strategic priorities, requiring flexibility rather than reliance on precedent

Skills & Experience:

  • Interest in, or exposure to, the energy transition, net zero products, and sustainability-related topics
  • Ability to translate complex or high-level strategic concepts into practical, local-market insights
  • Strong financial modelling skills
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, trends, and qualitative insights
  • Excellent communication skills, with confidence working across teams and stakeholders, including Group-level partners
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment and supporting multiple workstreams
  • Someone who can balance strategic thinking with practical market insight
  • A strong collaborator who can work effectively across Bord Gáis Energy and the wider Centrica Group
  • Motivation to develop deep expertise in the Irish energy and services landscape and contribute to the net zero transition
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity

What you'll bring:

  • Significant experience in strategy, planning, energy, utilities, or related sectors
  • Experience in corporate strategy or management consulting is highly valued
  • Proven track record of owning strategy development and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and delivering strategic outcomes
  • Strong understanding of the Irish market, with experience analysing competition, customer behaviour, or market dynamics
