Data Intelligence & Automation Analyst

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Finance Automation Centre of Excellence team (ACE) as a Data Intelligence & Automation Analyst. ACE is a hub for innovation and excellence which sits within the Group Business Services (GBS) function. The ACE team delivers value by using the latest technology to create automated self-serve reporting and streamlined end to end business process solutions. All projects undertaken by the team follow an agile delivery process to govern the project through the development lifecycle. Key tools used in the team include the Microsoft Power Platform suite (Power BI, Power Automate, PowerApps) and SharePoint.

Reporting to the Data Intelligence & Automation Specialist, you'll work with teams across Finance, DTS and GBS to support the achievement of our automation ambitions, increasing control and efficiency and improving insight.

About the Role:

3 Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • engaging with stakeholders across Finance to understand their processes and/or reporting and insight requirements, undertaking initial scoping of a solution including reviewing software options and determining feasibility

  • supporting and creating the development of self-serve solutions that embrace the automation aspirations of Centrica.

  • End to end project management including but not limited to:

    • Plans the required database structure to support the solution and ensure maintenance of the database is in place.

    • Writes and codes individual programmes according to specifications/for the required solution

    • Develops user friendly interfaces

    • Guide on / produce UAT scripts and follow up to correct the (software) solution

    • Implements and evaluates the (software) solution

    • Writes operational documentation and provides subsequent support and training for users

About You:

We are looking for an individual who has/is:

  • strong self-awareness and personal development focus

  • strong analytical skills to interpret datasets and processes with a strong attention to detail

  • innovative self-starter with the ability to challenge existing ways of working

  • a wider interest in and awareness of O365 Tools, the technology roadmap for the Microsoft Power Platform and related development technology.

  • Understanding and experience with Power BI and other Power Platform Tools including:

    • Ability to analyse, interpret and understand complex datasets and build robust data models

    • Power BI DAX and SharePoint

    • Power Query within excel

    • data models and visualisations to enable stakeholders to consume data efficiently via self-service solutions.

  • process improvement experience

  • strong self-management experience, in particular the ability to manage several projects at one time and prioritising and sequencing them as appropriate to meet deadlines

  • Understanding of Agile methodology and working practices.

  • Good communication skills and ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders

The ACE team is a small high-performing team and as a team we will support you to develop in the following areas:

  • Project Delivery

    • your team working skills as well as your skills to work independently and manage your time effectively

    • agile project delivery (rapid development/change; multiple tasks) within the ACE defined governance framework and managing cross functional stakeholders

  • Software

    • Office 365 skills and the ability to build robust PowerBI data models and visualisations

    • Power BI/Power Query M Language Coding as well as the DAX coding language

    • Working with multiple data sources; and/or complex datasets

    • a deeper understanding of the Microsoft BI stack, SAP/BW, SQL and broader finance concepts as this role works alongside finance professionals and SMEs.

  • Stakeholder management/engagement

    • Managing numerous stakeholders who have competing demands on their time

    • We will also work with you to significantly expand your network within Finance, the wider business and externally, which will endure beyond this role

    • The role requires the individual to work cross functionally and ensure all development is in line with the end-to-end governance framework.
