The Commercial Analyst plays a key role in driving strong commercial performance across the franchise network by delivering high‑quality analysis, insight and commercial models.

The role focuses on commercial performance, rate modelling, contract schedules, franchise collaboration and data‑led insight, working closely with Franchisor teams, Franchisees, and central Finance teams. The Commercial Analyst ensures commercial frameworks remain aligned to work delivered, supports ongoing rate and contract reviews, and enables informed decision‑making through robust data and reporting.

This role requires strong analytical capability, advanced systems knowledge (Power BI, Dynamics 365, SQL, Excel), and a solid understanding of commercial and financial drivers including revenue and profitability.

Key Accountabilities (but not limited to)

Commercial Analysis & Performance Insight:

  • Analyse franchise operational and commercial data to assess performance against agreed rate structures, commercial frameworks and contractual terms.
  • Translate job activity (job types, visits, job duration, travel time, materials usage) into clear commercial insight, linking activity to revenue and margin outcomes.
  • Identify trends, risks and opportunities across franchises, channels and territories to support commercial decision‑making.
  • Provide clear, evidence‑based insight to Commercial, Finance and Operational stakeholders to drive performance improvement.

Rate Models, Reviews & Commercial Frameworks:

  • Build, maintain and enhance commercial rate models, ensuring assumptions reflect real‑world delivery and remain commercially sustainable.
  • Support ongoing rate reviews across channels (e.g. BG, Key Accounts, DRD), including interim and annual reviews.
  • Analyse job times, visit patterns and job mix year‑on‑year, including franchise‑level comparisons and behavioural drivers (e.g. multiple issues per visit, booking constraints).
  • Review materials spend, thresholds and banding logic, assessing true cost impact to both Dyno‑Rod and franchises and proposing alternative models where required.
  • Support the maintenance and governance of rate cards, contract schedules and regional uplifts, ensuring accuracy, consistency and transparency.
  • Analyse the commercial impact of proposed rate changes, banding updates or contractual amendments, clearly articulating financial implications.

Franchise & Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Work closely with Franchisor teams, Franchisees, Commercial and Finance teams to support strong commercial outcomes.
  • Act as a trusted analytical partner to franchises, supporting discussions on performance, rates, materials, labour assumptions and commercial queries.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of commercial FAQs and guidance, clearly explaining rate logic, inclusions/exclusions, methodologies and assumptions.
  • Support franchise‑facing reporting and views, improving transparency of charges, rates and performance.

SQL, Reporting & Data Ownership:

  • Use SQL queries to extract, join and analyse large datasets from Dynamics 365 and related systems.
  • Develop and maintain trusted datasets and views to support commercial analysis, rate reviews and Power BI reporting.
  • Reconcile commercial datasets against D365 source data to ensure accuracy, completeness and consistency.
  • Design, build and maintain dashboards and MI in Power BI, improving visibility of commercial and operational performance.
  • Document assumptions, methodologies and data logic to ensure outputs are transparent, repeatable and well‑governed.

Process Improvement & Commercial Governance:

  • Identify and implement process improvements that improve efficiency, accuracy and consistency across commercial reporting and analysis.
  • Support the automation of elements of the rate model (e.g. salary banding, regional uplifts) to reduce manual intervention.
  • Work with Systems and Data teams to document, resolve and prevent data or reporting issues.
  • Support governance of commercial deductions, charges and schedules, ensuring alignment across systems and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to cross‑functional initiatives including external rate model reviews and commercial deep dives.

The Person

  • Commercially astute and strongly data‑led.
  • Agile thinker with a proactive, problem‑solving mindset.
  • Confident collaborator who builds strong relationships across teams and franchises.
  • Driven to improve how commercial insight is produced and applied.
  • Passionate about learning and developing analytical and technical skills.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications Required

Essential:

  • Experience in a commercial analyst, finance or data‑driven analytical role.
  • Strong commercial and analytical mindset with a clear understanding of revenue and profitability drivers.
  • Strong SQL capability, including writing queries to extract, join and analyse large datasets.
  • Proven experience using Power BI to build dashboards and commercial MI.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, analysis and structured modelling.
  • Ability to interpret complex and sometimes conflicting datasets to identify true performance drivers.
  • Strong attention to detail with high standards for accuracy and consistency.
  • Ability to clearly communicate commercial insight to non‑technical stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • Working knowledge of Dynamics 365 or similar ERP / CRM systems.
  • Experience supporting rate modelling, rate reviews or contract schedules.
  • Experience working with franchise, partner or multi‑channel operating models.
  • Exposure to continuous improvement, reporting automation or external commercial reviews.

Qualifications:

  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in Finance, Business, Economics, Data Analytics, Mathematics or a related discipline.
  • Professional finance or data qualifications are desirable but not essential.
