About the role

This Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) role focuses on delivering secure, stable, and intelligent digital services through proactive operations, security governance, AIOps, and next-generation automation including GenAI.
The role supports the organisation’s priorities by:
• Improving service reliability and stability across critical systems
• Strengthening security posture and compliance aligned to BT standards
• Enabling faster incident detection and resolution through automation and AIOps
• Driving digital transformation with modern, data-driven and AI-enabled operations
• Providing clear visibility to stakeholders through executive visualization dashboards and insights

What you’ll be doing

• Ensure 24×7 reliability and performance of critical services
• Detect issues early and prevent service disruptions
• Build and maintain secure, resilient, and scalable systems
• Follow and enforce security policies, standards, and access controls
• Manage vulnerabilities end-to-end, including tracking, prioritisation, and remediation
• Build pipelines to detect risks using logs, metrics, and events
• Create and maintain risk scoring models to prioritise issues
• Analyse risks using blast radius and attack path analysis
• Use automation and AIOps to reduce manual work and enable self-healing
• Apply NLP techniques to improve ticket handling and log insights
• Build dashboards and visualisations for service health and risk visibility
• Support application modernisation and digital transformation initiatives
• Explore and apply GenAI capabilities where relevant

Essential Skills / Experience

• Knowledge of vulnerability management (CVE, CVSS, prioritisation)
• Understanding of security standards (BT security, CIS, OWASP)
• Experience with IAM / RBAC and basic risk analysis concepts
• Hands-on with monitoring tools like Dynatrace
• Experience with log/metrics platforms such as OpenSearch
• Familiarity with ServiceNow (SNOW) or similar ITSM tools
• Experience in Python for automation and scripting
• Strong understanding of incident management and service reliability
• Experience with AIOps and automation tools
• Exposure to NLP for logs or ticket analysis
• Experience building dashboards (Grafana or similar)
• Knowledge of vulnerability tools like Qualys
• Understanding of cloud architecture (Azure/AWS)
• Exposure to GenAI concepts (RAG, agentic frameworks)
