What you’ll build

We are looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer who will strengthen the reliability foundation for our mission-critical Customer Portal SAP for Me, a cloud-native, self-service, and transactional platform that is central to our digital business.

Specifically, you will:

  • Establish and evolve Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and error budgets for critical services.
  • Improve observability across the platform (metrics, logs, tracing) and enhance actionable alerting.
  • Reduce operational noise and increase signal quality to improve system transparency.
  • Drive structured incident management and blameless post-mortem practices, contributing to measurable MTTR reduction.
  • Eliminate operational toil through automation, improving CI/CD, infrastructure reliability, and self-healing mechanisms.
  • Embed reliability-by-design principles into feature development together with engineering and product teams.
  • Contribute to capacity planning, resilience engineering, and performance optimization.
  • Act as a reliability multiplier by enabling teams to independently apply SRE principles.

Your work will directly impact system stability, customer trust, and operational excellence.

What you bring

  • 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering in complex cloud-native environments.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience IT projects
  • Strong hands-on expertise with Kubernetes-based architectures.
  • Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks.
  • Proven experience implementing and operating observability stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, log aggregation tools).
  • Experience working with Dynatrace is a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Helm).
  • Experience managing production incidents and conducting structured root cause analysis.
  • Strong understanding of non-functional requirements (availability, scalability, performance).
  • Ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional teams in an agile setup.
  • Experience working in SAFe or similar scaled agile environments is a plus.
  • Experience in supporting high-traffic platforms.
  • SRE or cloud certifications are a plus.

Ideally, you also bring experience with high-availability customer-facing platforms and reliability governance models.

Where you belong

You will join SAP for Mel Agile Release Train (ART) — a cross-functional organization of ~15 teams developing and operating a large-scale, cloud-native platform.

The platform integrates with more than 50 backend business systems and runs in a modern Kubernetes-based environment (SAP Kyma).

You will work closely with: - Platform engineers and development teams - Product Owners and Product Management - Operations stakeholders - Our dedicated SRE Champion, who drives the reliability strategy and governance model This role is designed as a long-term internal capability to strengthen our reliability culture and operational maturity across the ART.
