Job Description

About the role

BT is entering a new phase of growth, shifting from large-scale infrastructure investment to unlocking value from data, platforms and AI.

This role sits within the Active Intelligence unit of Data and Developer Solutions, part of Etc., BT’s internal innovation organisation. Its purpose is to design, build and scale data products that use anonymised and aggregated mobile network data to solve real‑world customer problems.

Building on year-on-year product and revenue growth over the last 4 years, we have an ambitious plan to scale Active Intelligence to expand into new markets and deliver differentiated value for our clients leveraging the capability built to date. We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager with the experience and knowledge to help deliver against this ambition.

As Senior Product Manager, Active Intelligence, you will be accountable for leading the ongoing product vision, defining, validating and scaling new opportunities that deliver measurable commercial growth. This is a highly accountable and visible end to end role requiring product management, entrepreneurial and corporate skills to be successful.

What you’ll be doing

Product, portfolio and commercial leadership

  • Working with the Director, lead the ongoing product vision for Active Intelligence in line with BT’s strategic growth priorities. Translate customer and commercial needs into clear roadmaps and measurable commercial outcomes.
  • Act as the accountable product leader for Active Intelligence, making evidence-based decisions to invest, pivot, partner or stop initiatives.
  • Define and articulate a clear product vision and value propositions aligned with customer needs, the market opportunity and BT’s strategic intent. Set clear measures of success.
  • Own the commercial logic for new products, including value cases, pricing considerations and investment rationale. Track commercial performance after launch.
  • Ensure products are commercially viable, operationally scalable and ready for transition into core BT ownership.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key customers gathering feedback and insights across all sectors to continuously improve our products

Strategy, influence and senior stakeholder leadership

  • Shape portfolio priorities across Active Intelligence by balancing customer value, commercial impact and delivery capacity.
  • Influence senior stakeholders across business units and partners without direct authority, building alignment and momentum around new growth opportunities.
  • Contribute to broader thought leadership and strategy for data and AI-driven products and solutions within BT.

Product development and delivery oversight

  • Lead cross functional multidisciplinary teams across product management, research and service design, software and data engineering, data science and analysis, ensuring a clear focus on outcomes rather than outputs.
  • Set clear direction for product discovery, experimentation and delivery, using customer insight, market analysis and performance data to guide decisions, adopting lean Build, Measure, Learn principles and processes.
  • Ensure appropriate analytics and insight are in place to measure adoption, value and growth, and to inform ongoing optimisation or retirement of products against anticipated market adoption rates.
  • Work with sales and go-to-market functions to ensure product launch, persona development, market segmentation and product adoption is effectively planned, managed and monitored for success.
  • Identify, manage and mitigate delivery, commercial and strategic risks across the product portfolio.

People and capability leadership

  • Line manage, mentor and develop product talent, building future-ready capability across product management and adjacent disciplines.
  • Lead improvements to product ways of working, raising standards and maturity across discovery, delivery and commercial thinking.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues in the management team, ensuring we win as one.
  • Role model BT’s behaviours, creating a high-performing, inclusive and outcome-focused culture.

Regulatory compliance:

Stay informed about relevant regulations and ensure product compliance, especially regarding data privacy and security

Essential Skills / Experience

  • End-to-end product leadership: You’ll bring a substantial track record of setting product vision and leading complex products from strategy, research and discovery through validation, investment prioritisation, Agile delivery and scale. Operating with pace and sound judgement, you’ll make evidence-led trade-offs, take accountability for critical decisions and deliver measurable customer and commercial impact.
  • Commercial, data and technology expertise: You’ll combine strong commercial leadership with deep technology product experience, shaping robust business and financial cases, securing investment and driving performance against clear outcomes. Your understanding of modern data platforms, analytics, AI, machine learning and data modelling will enable you to turn complex capabilities into differentiated products, while making effective build, buy and partner decisions.
  • People, stakeholder and growth leadership: You’ll be an influential senior leader with a proven record of building high-performing teams, shaping executive-level decisions and creating alignment across complex organisational boundaries. Entrepreneurial, customer-led and resilient, you’ll inspire confidence, raise standards and mobilise internal and external partners to take products from early-stage opportunity to sustainable growth at scale.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Knowledge of geospatial mobile network data and its application in a commercial environment
  • Platform and ecosystem thinking, including partner selection and build/buy/partner decisions.
  • Experience working with OKRs or similar outcome-based frameworks at product or portfolio level.
  • Experience operating within large, complex or highly regulated organisations.
  • Knowledge of geospatial mobile network data and its application in a commercial environment would be helpful but not essential
