About the role

Our Company Secretarial team plays a critical role in ensuring BT Group and its Board and Committee structures meet the highest standards of corporate governance, while remaining compliant with evolving legal and regulatory requirements.

In this role, you'll work with senior stakeholders across the business, helping to simplify complexity, provide trusted governance advice and support the decisions that shape the future of BT. By enabling effective governance and supporting strategic priorities, you'll contribute directly to our ambition of becoming the UK's most trusted connector of people, business and society.

What you’ll be doing

  • You will provide support to the Board and/or a Board Committee working with the Board, Executive Committee and Strategy teams across the company. This includes collation and distribution of papers via the online electronic portal (Board Intelligence) and supporting the effective operation of the relevant Board/Committee meeting.
  • Where necessary, you will provide support to subsidiary companies including liaison with BDO (third party provider).
  • Provide support to the Principal Manager Governance, Senior Managers, Corporate Governance as required to meet business needs.
  • You will draft and input into the Annual Report and ancillary documents as required.
  • Support for the delivery of the AGM or General Meetings
  • Support with ad hoc corporate and departmental projects
  • Contribution to the development of relevant knowledge sharing and training areas for the team and ensure effectiveness of processes
  • Contributing to delivering the team’s strategy and strategic priorities

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Corporate Governance Expertise: CGI part-qualified or recently qualified, with a strong understanding of corporate governance principles, company law and regulatory requirements in a listed company or regulated environment.
  • Governance Analysis & Judgement: Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex governance matters, identify risks and provide practical recommendations to support effective decision-making.
  • Stakeholder Management & Professional Discretion: Able to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, Board members and external partners, handling sensitive and confidential information with professionalism, sound judgement and discretion

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Commercial & Financial Acumen: Demonstrates strong financial numeracy, with the ability to interpret financial information, understand corporate reporting requirements and support governance activities involving financial, regulatory and business performance matters.
  • Project & Programme Coordination: Proven ability to plan, coordinate and deliver multiple activities simultaneously, ensuring governance processes, Board and Committee deliverables, and wider business initiatives are completed accurately and within agreed timescales.
  • Learning Agility & Adaptability: A proactive and curious approach to learning, with the ability to quickly build knowledge in new areas, respond positively to changing priorities and take ownership of unfamiliar tasks in a fast-paced corporate environment.
