ADS
Securing UK advantage
ADS is here to represent industry, connect our members to business opportunities that support growth and convene activity that contributes to the growth of our sectors.
ADS’ members range from major multinational businesses with substantial UK presences, to over a thousand small and medium-sized companies in every part of the country.
As the national trade association for the UK’s aerospace, defence, security and space sectors, ADS works to promote and support their interests both at home and abroad. Spanning the length and breadth of the UK, ADS has more than 1,700+ member companies which includes over 1,000 SMEs.
The UK is home to a unique workforce capability that generates UK advantage. Employment across our sectors has grown by a third in the last ten years. Supporting 443,000 direct jobs across the country, ADS and our members aim to expand this unique workforce capability and national advantage.
Our sectors offer opportunities vital to the UK’s future as a high-tech, high-skill, high-wage economy. Figures also demonstrate a strong pipeline of young talent across all four sectors, with 26,200 apprenticeships playing a crucial role within the workforce.
Farnborough International Limited (FIL), which runs the Farnborough International Airshow, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of ADS Group Ltd.

Approach to inclusion
ADS Group celebrates diversity in all its forms.
At ADS, we believe we all have a role to play in fostering inclusivity in our industries - diversity of thought drives innovation. When people feel respected and included, they are more innovative, productive, and most importantly: happier.
We're privileged to be founder signatories of the Women in Aviation & Aerospace Charter and Women in Defence Charter and play an active role in similar networks for all of our sectors.
There’s always more to be done and we're constantly looking for ways to shift the dial. We are building a culture of equity and inclusiveness to ensure that ADS is a workplace we can be proud of.
Flexible working at ADS
ADS’ people are our most important asset. As a trade association, the value we offer our members across all four of our sectors is built on the services we provide, the access we can offer and the relationships we hold. We are the voice of our industries, building partnerships and supporting our members to develop new opportunities in the UK and around the world, helping them to grow and to sustain more than 443,000 jobs. We aim to achieve a standard that compares with the best of our peers in any sector.
Since the return to regular office work following the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, we have successfully trialled a hybrid working system across all our sites and announced a new extended remote working policy.
In 2022 we rolled out a much broader package of enhancements to the benefits we offer our employees. These enhancements include significant improvements to the paid leave we offer to new parents, as well as additional holiday linked to long service, and additional flexibility such as the option to work a nine-day fortnight, or to purchase additional annual leave.
We hope all our employees find them beneficial, and a signal that we value our whole team at ADS, and we hope they will support staff in developing their careers here as well as achieving a good balance between work and home lives.
