Job Description
Location: UK Based, Remote-first (with monthly travel to London)
At Unmind, we're here to create better mental health.
We believe mental health should be a source of strength, not struggle – for people, teams, and entire organisations.
We combine science, technology, and human care to help companies like Uber, Disney, Major League Baseball, and the NHS improve mental health and drive performance.
Now we’re looking for more brilliant people to help us do it.
🚀 Our Values
We’re building a company where ambition and empathy go hand in hand.
Outpace the rest – Move fast. Deliver excellence.
Stronger together – We go further, faster, together.
Client first – We win, when our clients win.
🌈 Inclusion & Belonging
We’re building a place where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported – and where difference is celebrated.
If you need adjustments during the process, tell us when you apply or email talent@unmind.com.

🎯 The Role — Engineering Manager
We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to work with two of our product teams, which span both our activation and AI-powered experiences. Reporting into the Head of Engineering, you’ll be responsible for the growth, performance, and delivery of 8-10 Engineers working on high-impact, fast-moving products.
You’ll play a key role in enabling teams to deliver effectively and sustainably - helping navigate challenges, balance product and technical priorities, and support decision-making. As a member of our Tech Leadership group, you’ll also influence how we work across Unmind and play a key role in amplifying Engineering’s impact across the business.
In this role, you’ll get to:
Manage and develop Engineers across two product teams, fostering high performance, engagement, and sustainable delivery
Elevate Engineer’s performance and unlock their potential by creating the conditions, support and accountability for them to grow, and being willing to make tough calls where progress isn’t happening
Own your teams’ ways of working and delivery velocity - identifying lean approaches, challenging scope, spotting risks early, and working with Product Managers and Staff Engineers to keep teams focused on the highest value work
Shape engineering practices by improving team collaboration, delivery, and engineering productivity, including how we leverage AI tools and automation to work more effectively
Gain exposure to AI-powered products, working with teams building innovative user-facing solutions in a fast-evolving space
🌟 About You
In the spirit of equity and continuous growth, we invite you to remove education from your CV. Qualifications are not a factor in our decision-making. However, some experience in the following is important for this position:
You’ve successfully operated in a B2B SaaS company where things move fast, ownership is fuzzy, and you can’t wait for everything to be defined before you act. You’ve managed ICs directly across multiple product teams.
You make teams faster through better decisions. You have a track record of improving delivery by challenging what gets built, reducing scope to the smallest valuable increment, and removing friction. You form a view as to whether what the team is building is the right investment, and you push back constructively when scope is unclear or value is questionable.
You develop people and hold them accountable. You can coach Senior Engineers into stronger tech leads. You spot potential early and invest in it. You address underperformance directly - defaulting to kindness and clarity, not avoidance.
You’re technically credible. You’ve enough technical depth to challenge technical approach, understand architectural trade-offs, and have productive conversations with Engineers. You’re not looking to own the technical direction yourself, but keen to influence and help champion it with our Staff Engineers.
You operate with high agency and sound judgment. You build what’s needed without waiting to be told. You make good calls with imperfect information. You know when to involve others and when to just move.
Tip for candidates: If you’re unsure whether to apply – do. We know great people don't always tick every box.
