About the Transfer Web

As a company, we build easy-to-use products that our customers love. As part of our team, you’ll be working across disciplines on our core products and bring improved and new features to our customers. This is a fast-paced environment, where you will have the opportunity to experiment, explore, and quickly innovate across our core products.

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team. It includes product managers, designers and frontend engineers and focuses on user retention. Your team will partner closely with our backend, auth & billing and platform teams. You will work together to take our best ideas from inspiration to production.

Above all else, we value open and honest communication and good teamwork to achieve a shared vision. Someone who is a passionate learner, who isn't afraid of new tools and technologies to build great customer experiences and who loves to share their knowledge and experience.

What you'll be doing

  • Collaborate with product managers, designers and other engineers to build improved and new features to drive user retention

  • Work with engineers across many teams to design solid conventions and solutions across all of our code

  • Contribute to a culture of learning and growth through knowledge sharing and mentoring

  • Design and build creative, unique, data-informed solutions to problems

  • Drive scope estimation, delivery, and managing stakeholder expectations

What are we looking for?

  • Strong frontend web development skills (we use Typescript/React/Redux/NextJS)

  • Experience with high-scale, API-backed, web applications in production

  • Experience delivering end-to-end solutions to produce quality products

  • Ability to communicate complex (technical) topics clearly to non-technical and technical audiences either digitally or verbally (we use Slack, Notion, Jira and video calls)

  • Affinity for design, user experience, and excellent UI implementation skills

  • A pragmatic problem-solving approach: balancing the need to create future-proof solutions with the need to get it done

  • Excellent written communication (our working language is English)

  • Self-directed, analytical, highly-responsible and work well in a team environment

  • Broad technical and creative interests (we'd love to see any side projects you've done)

Our Engineering Principles

Obsess over customers

  • We obsess over our customers - whether it’s working to exceed their expectations and bring moments of delight, following up on support tickets, building tests to validate their scenarios, or using data from their use of our products to inform our decisions.

Prepare, Commit, Focus

  • Before we commit to work, we understand the scope, the priority, and and impact. When we commit to work, we commit to doing it with high quality. We work with focus and urgency to ensure we can deliver on our commitments.

Favor proven solutions

  • We favor proven tech that we have or can buy over what we can build. Building new is a rarity, and we choose to build because the problem hasn’t been solved before to our level of requirements, or we have unique intellectual property we are creating in the process.

Keep it simple

  • The simple solution will be right sized. It will be easier to build, to maintain, to throw away if people don’t use it, and to iterate on or replace if they do.

Learn from everything

  • From our customers and support; from experiments; from data we gather; from our peers; from feedback, through whatever channels we can; from the incidents last month or the PR someone else commented on. There are limitless opportunities to learn from everything happening around us.

Take pride in our craft

  • Engineering is a craft; we do work that we can be proud of. We pride ourselves in the quality of our work, whether on new systems or old. We pride ourselves delivering on our engineering fundamentals and on owning and running our services
