Job Description

We have an opening for a Data Scientist to join our Product Engineering team here at Virgin Media O2, delivering data & insight products to our B2B Clients! You’ll work within an agile product development team and develop and operate big data products using our Mobile Data. The role is jointly accountable for the quality, development and operation of these products, and as part of this you will build, maintain, optimise and automate processes through pipelines, scripts and script control.

Key accountabilities of the role:

  • Delivering value to customers of the product – understanding customer needs and delivering better insights and experience.
  • Developing software or code required to deliver the product, including visualisation tools, databases and data processing system.
  • Developing new methodologies, processes and products, and driving improvements in quality.
  • Continuous improvement with ability to deliver changes to products in a regular, reliable, and predictable manner through improving feedback loops throughout the product delivery process.
  • Developing a detailed understanding of Mobile Network Data and its processing to be able to take full advantage of the data assets.

The must haves

In order to be considered, you must have the following experience;

  • Previous demonstrable experience in writing and deploying code.
  • Strong understanding of databases and a consistent record in writing analytical queries and data processes in SQL and or Python.
  • Previous experience of defining and implementing data process changes independently.
  • Experienced in effective use of Git for change control.
  • Experience in mentoring or leading other data scientists.
  • Experience in analysing geospatial data.
