In the role of Senior Data Engineer, you will not only be a leader in data engineering at RPS, but also an influential mentor to our PhP team members. Stationed at the core of our Technology team, your key responsibility will be the development and maintenance of data pipelines. These pipelines transport data from a plethora of sources into our centralised data platforms. This pivotal role will offer you the opportunity to significantly enhance the volume and quality of insights generated and actioned.

Your invaluable contributions will empower data analysts, data scientists, and other PhP stakeholders, enabling them to harness valuable insights from our data.

Requirements:

  • Advanced programming skills in Python.
  • Previously built data pipelines, complex ETL, and managed large data migration projects.
  • Familiarity with AWS (Redshift, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3 etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals from senior stakeholders / C suite to graduates.
  • Understanding of common approaches to data analysis, machine learning, and data visualisation.
  • Familiarity with different data architectures (e.g., Data Lake, Data Mesh, Data Warehouse, streaming, batch processing).
  • Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with big data concepts for storing and processing large data volumes.
  • Understanding of information security and data governance.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time, with an emphasis on quality.

The Directorate

This role will work closely with the Head of Data Science, Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Delivery Lead, Data Quality Manager, Lead Architect, Software Developers and Chief Technology Officer.

How we are currently working

RPS supports and works in a hybrid way, which means you will be able to work from home, however, there will be an expectation for collaborative face-to-face working – on average and typically this may be something between 4-8 working days per month at our London Office.
