Job Description

Our Fraud Prevention team are the ones responsible for protecting our customers and the business by identifying, investigating, and preventing fraud. Join us as a Fraud Agent Apprentice and start building your career with a starting salary of £25,000.

Make things happen

As an apprentice, you’ll start by learning side-by-side with our expert Fraud Agents, building your confidence with core systems and our processes. You’ll be responsible for supporting the team with early-stage fraud reviews while you develop the judgement needed to spot unusual activity. As you progress through your apprenticeship, we’ll ensure you’re exposed to more complex fraud solutions, trend analysis, and the wider fraud ecosystem across Virgin Media O2. Day-to-day, you could be:

  • Reviewing high-risk transactions and new applications
  • Analysing data to identify emerging fraud patterns and behaviours
  • Investigating suspicious orders and supporting action to prevent fraudulent activity

We’re a flexible-first organisation because we believe people do their best work with choice and clarity. To support meaningful collaboration, we ask everyone to connect in person at least eight days a month. That could mean time in the office, volunteering days, or away days - anywhere collaboration happens.

This apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to become skilled in your role, and combines on the job learning and academic study, where you’ll spend approximately 20% of your working hours completing learning with one of our training providers. The programme is fully funded by us, and we’ll support you from day one, ensuring you complete your apprenticeship with a nationally recognised qualification.

The must haves

To apply, you’ll need at least five GCSEs at Level 4–9 (or equivalent).

The other stuff we are looking for

We’re looking for confident individuals who aren’t afraid to push back when required and have a real belief in what they’re doing. While some awareness of fraud risk is useful, what’s even more important is your curiosity, eagerness to learn, and confidence to ask questions. We’re keen to see qualities such as:

  • An interest in working with data to identify risks and trends
  • Understanding of the Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel
  • Strong communication skills

What's in it for you

This scheme is the perfect kickboard to a career in fraud prevention. Not only will you be supported towards your Level 4 Counter Fraud Apprenticeship, but you’ll grow your analytical and problem-solving skills while working at the heart of our fast-paced and experienced Fraud Prevention team. Join us on a starting salary of £25,000, raising to £28,000 after 12-months on programme, with a final landing salary of £31,000 upon successful completion. Plus, you can enjoy our amazing benefits, including:

  • A minimum of 23 days holiday, plus your birthday off!
  • Flexible benefits package including 10% matched pension contribution, holiday buying and selling, and discounts on shopping, travel and more
  • Private Bupa healthcare

…and plenty more to support you inside and outside of work!

Next steps

If we feel like a place where you can belong, we'd love to learn more about you as a person and your experience to date. Once you've submitted an application the next steps of the process, if successful, are likely to include an online test, a telephone interview, a coaching call and an assessment centre.

When you apply, you'll be asked about any adjustments you might need to support the recruitment process. Let us know, and we'll be sure to discuss it with you. Please note: Applications will be reviewed, and interviews conducted throughout the duration of this advert, therefore we may bring the closing date forward.

We encourage all interested applicants to apply as soon as possible. If you’re offered a job with us, it will be conditional, based on the passing of background checks. All roles require a criminal record check and some roles need a financial probity check. Your recruiter can provide you with more information if needed.

Thanks for your patience and for showing an interest in joining the Virgin Media O2 family.
