Job Description

Our Mission

We're not your average benefits platform; we're the unordinary force that uplifts people's lives. Our technology is the link that connects the entire benefits ecosystem, creating better outcomes for employers, employees, brokers, and providers.

Our mission is clear: we're here to create a world where everything operates at its very best, ensuring that every employee receives the support they need to live life to the fullest, both at work and beyond.

Your Mission

As a Data Analyst at Ben, you will be joining at a crucial time in the evolution of our product-engineering organisation as we build out the foundational pillars of our data function.

This is an incredible opportunity to join a business where we are looking to build out our analytical function from scratch. You will be owning a number of tools and work closely with the product and business teams to define KPIs, perform exploratory analysis and set up reporting that will drive the business towards being truly data-driven.

Things you will be working on…

  • You will be the first port of call for the business in triaging data issues, determining the root cause and resolving where appropriate

  • You will work collaboratively with our Marketplace, Product, Support, Operations, Customer Success and other engineering teams to resolve issues in a timely fashion

  • You will maintain our service levels with customers by ensuring queries are investigated and resolved within SLA timeframes

  • Supporting the business in making data driven decisions, through collaborating in defining KPIs and Metrics and carrying out repeatable analysis

  • Developing reporting and dashboards to enable the business to track trends and perform business-critical analysis at scale

  • Developing and delivering training sessions to enhance the skills and knowledge of internal team members with regards to utilising our internal data toolkit

  • Becoming an expert on the product - understanding and communicating the underlying concepts within the product, being the point of contact when supporting other business functions in their understanding of the products dataflows

You’ll love this role if you have:

  • SQL expertise: you can debug complex queries to optimise for both quality and performance

  • The ability to identify the root cause of data issues and working with engineering teams to resolve them in a timely manner

  • Experience with a BI/visualisation tools such as Looker, Metabase, Lightdash. You know how to design and build dashboards to enable repeatable analysis

  • An analytical mindset: you know how to turn raw data into actionable insights. You have experience defining KPIs and building the reporting to measure them

  • Familiarity with dbt is a nice to have

and you...

  • are a self-starter who thrives on autonomy, enjoys a rapid pace and wants to make a difference

  • have a continuous improvement mindset. You appreciate that there are always ways to do things better and ensure your team does too

  • have a preference to action-oriented behaviour with just enough analysis, as compared to too much time spent doing analysis with no action

  • have the ability to make decisions balancing different factors such as business requirements, technical integrity, overall priorities etc.

  • appreciate the opportunities and challenges of a distributed work environment

  • are solution-focused with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving
