Flexible working approach
Employees are able to work from their chosen location, whether this be home, the office or another place. We have a fully hybrid model and have committed to this indefinitely. The Customer Experience team work shifts so their hours are fixed, but within this we have people who work flexible shift times and part-time to fit around their lives and commitments as parents/carers/students.
Outside the CX team, start and finish times are flexible and based on trust. We have an allowance for home-office set up (uncapped, just tell us what you need), and have provided unlimited data sim cards to anyone who needs a faster internet connection. Our benefits are fully flexible in partnership with Thanks Ben, employees have a monthly allowance to use how they wish, options include health insurance, gym membership, pension top up, and literally anything they can purchase online becomes a benefit.
Employees also have a ring-fenced L&D budget, and can use their benefits allowance to top this up. Other benefits include access to well being support through Spill, and professional coaching once a month with our coaching partner & qualified coach Helen McMillan - these are available to all and do not use any of the benefits allowance.
We have a Real Living Wage Scheme for new parents, anyone taking leave to be with their new child will not earn less than the Real Living Wage for the whole of their leave, regardless of salary or gender, for biological and adopted children. We have paid compassionate leave and parental bereavement leave and offer paid sabbaticals for employees who have worked with us for at least three years.
Scoring against our flexibility index (1 = not at all flexible, 100 = couldn’t be more flexible, 51 is average) using a number of parameters to assess flexibility such as working from home, hours, frequency of travel, benefits, etc.
Employee benchmarking score
Scoring against our employee perception index (1 = not seen as flexible, 100 = couldn’t be happier with the flexibility, 51 is average) using a number of more emotional / perception based questions to understand whether employees feel supported and offered what they want. The areas we cover are work-life balance / managerial support / flexible benefits / working environment / and many others.
"By Miles was great accommodating my flexible working request. My team work later shifts and some weekends and flexible working still wasn't a problem. They put a lot of planning into the rota so I have the hours I need whilst still covering my fair share of the shifts."
