At By Miles, we are on a mission to make driving fairer.
Car insurance doesn’t have the best reputation. It’s dull, unfair, expensive and involves far too much unnecessary paperwork!
We’re changing that. We launched the UK’s first real-time pay-by-mile car insurance policies in 2018, along with a smart driving app, because owning a car should set you free, not tie you down.
It’s probably this attitude that meant we were voted ‘Best Car Insurance Provider of 2021’ for the third year in a row at the Insurance Choice Awards

Flexible working at By Miles
At By Miles, we're proud to be a flexible place to work.
Employees are able to work from their chosen location, whether this is their home, the office or somewhere else. We have a hybrid model and have committed to this indefinitely. Our Customer Experience team works shifts so their hours are fixed, but within this, we have people who work flexible shift times and part-time to fit around their lives and commitments as parents, carers and students.
Outside of our Customer Experience team, start and finish times are flexible and based on trust. We have a work from home allowance and have provided unlimited data sim cards to anyone who needs a faster internet connection. Our benefits are fully flexible, and in partnership with Thanks Ben, our employees have a monthly allowance to use how they wish, with options including access to health insurance, gym membership, pension top-up and more. Plus, we're a dog friendly office!
Employees also have a ring-fenced L&D budget, and can use their benefits allowance to top this up. Other benefits include access to well-being support through Spill, and professional coaching once a month with our coaching partner and qualified coach Helen McMillan. Coaching sessions are available to all and do not use any of the benefits allowance.
We have a Real Living Wage Scheme for new parents: anyone taking leave to be with their new child will not earn less than the Real Living Wage for the whole of their leave, regardless of salary or gender, for biological and adopted children. We have paid compassionate leave and parental bereavement leave and offer paid sabbaticals for employees who have worked with us for at least 3 years.
