Job Description

We have a unique and exciting opportunity to be part of our newly launched Scoot division. This role is crucial in managing the day-to-day financial operations of the Scoot business, ensuring accurate financial reporting and providing analytical support to drive informed decision-making. You will play a key role in supporting the wider Booker Retail business with financial insights, helping to shape the success of this new venture. This position does not have direct reports but offers the opportunity to work closely with stakeholders across the business.

We offer a hybrid working model, with three days based at one of our regional offices in Wellingborough, or Eccles — and two days working from home, providing flexibility and work-life balance.

Role Responsibilities (What)

Reporting to the Commercial Finance Manager, the key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Preparing weekly sales reports, ensuring alignment between retail sales and wholesale sales uplifts.

  • Conducting monthly profit and loss analysis, comparing actuals against business cases.

  • Leading budgeting, latest estimate (LE) planning, and forecasting activities.

  • Managing and overseeing invoice and credit processes related to handheld terminals, commission charges, and marketing support.

  • Overseeing third-party logistics (3PL) management and ensuring rebate credits are processed back to Booker Group.

  • Administering and controlling sales incentive schemes to drive performance.

  • Supporting the Commercial Finance Manager with ad hoc analytical work outside of the Scoot framework

Health, Safety, Legal & Compliance

  • Oversee compliance frameworks within the area of responsibility.
  • Ensure policies are implemented and regularly reviewed.
  • Manage risk assessments and ensure mitigation plans are delivered.
  • Analyse compliance performance and drive improvements.

Skills (How)

Technical / Professional

To succeed in this role, you should be a proactive, results-driven individual with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and integrity.

  • Qualified Accountant (preferred) with a relevant degree (desirable).

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Advanced IT proficiency, particularly in Excel.

  • Team player, capable of collaborating across multiple sites.

  • Willingness to travel to other sites as required.

Behavioral & Leadership

  • Champion values and role-model leadership behaviours.
  • Develop team capability and succession plans.
  • Foster a high-performing and inclusive culture.
  • Provide coaching to enhance leadership capability within the team.
