Why This Role Exists
Redgate Monitor is a widely used tool that helps organisations proactively monitor, diagnose, and optimise their database environments. As the product continues to grow in scale and complexity, the team needs a senior engineer who can help raise the technical bar, take ownership of ambiguous and high impact problems, and support the wider group in improving how it builds software. This role exists to add that depth of technical leadership within the team, while also helping other engineers grow through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
About Redgate

About the Role
This Senior Software Engineer role sits within one of the teams working on Redgate Monitor, our flagship monitoring solution. You'll contribute to the ongoing evolution of a mature, high impact product used by thousands of customers worldwide, with the opportunity to influence architectural decisions, improve system performance, and deliver features that make a direct difference to how customers manage their database environments.
• You'll help shape the architecture and technical direction of a product that's core to how thousands of organisations manage their databases.
• You'll work within a small, cross-functional team made up of a Tech Lead, Lead Software Engineer, Product Designer, Product Manager, and four to five other software engineers, with further support from a Group Engineering Manager, a product architect, and a coaching function.
• You'll take ownership of significant, often ambiguous projects from start to finish, balancing strategic planning with predictable delivery.
• You'll have the chance to raise the technical capability of the wider team through mentoring, coaching, and sharing your expertise, extending your impact well beyond your own code.
What Makes You a Great Fit
• Strong expertise in modern .NET and C#, with the ability to design and build scalable, resilient, and secure systems while weighing up trade-offs and future implications.
• A consistent approach to unit testing, code review, and clear communication that keeps quality high throughout the development process.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with close attention to detail.
• Experience working in a highly collaborative team, building strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
• Experience working within an agile development environment, with the flexibility to work across different parts of the product and pick up new technologies as needed.
