Job Description

What you’ll get

At Perlego we believe in the key role you will play to achieve our shared mission. You'll belong to a culture of dreamers, team players and avid learners with a flexible, value-based approach. Here, you can become your best self, and through your talent, make a real impact in the world of education.

What we do

At Perlego, there are almost 100 of us working hard to make education accessible to all. We believe access to good quality affordable learning unlocks potential. Knowledge should be more accessible, not locked behind sky-high price tags.

We recently expanded our library to make over 1 million books affordable for learners, earned a 100% Gold ASPIRE rating for accessibility and reached over 15 million people. The next stage of Perlego is twofold: 1) expand our support to students and publishers globally, and 2) build a product that goes beyond the book, a platform that helps students study smarter and educators teach more effectively.

🔎 What We’re Looking For

A Senior Product Designer with experience designing world-class experiences and beautifully crafted interfaces. You’ll be joining our design team and working on every stage of the design process, from research to delivery. This role is pivotal in driving the growth of our platform by optimising user acquisition, engagement, retention, and monetisation through innovative design solutions.

🤝 How We Work Together

Perlego is organised into cross-functional tribes working together on a common domain. Our designers collaborate with engineers, product managers, and commercial partners to execute strategic projects that drive business and user impact. This role will be embedded in the Consumer (D2C) tribe while also working within the design team, focusing on developing new ways for our product to grow and reach more learners across the globe.

What you'll do

Supporting the Consumer Tribe:

  • Human-Centric Design: Develop a deep understanding of our learners’ goals, workflows, and pain points through comprehensive user research and analysis. Be an advocate for the user's best interests while balancing business needs.
  • Growth-Oriented Solutions: Identify opportunities for growth and design experiments to test hypotheses related to user acquisition, engagement, and retention.
  • Creativity in Delivery: Create and foster innovative, memorable and delightful user experiences that drive growth and engagement.
  • Analytics and Data: Leverage data and analytics tools to validate design assumptions, conduct A/B testing, and iteratively improve designs.

Supporting the Design Team:

  • Design System Contribution: Contribute to and evolve brand guidelines, use and collaborate on design systems (and empower others to use them), create scalable design solutions, ensure cross-platform consistency, and educate/foster systemic thinking.
  • Research and Facilitation: Participate and/or lead user research activities and facilitate design workshops as needed.
  • Business Support: Support the business with answering brand requests, including creating visual assets for go-to-market and marketing needs.

What Success Looks Like for This Role in 12 Months:

  • In 2 Months: You will understand your assigned domain and have started your first project.
  • In 3 Months: You will have delivered your first project.
  • In 6 Months: You will confidently lead design initiatives within your domain, demonstrating measurable growth impact.

Requirements

🔥 It’s the Perfect Role for You If You:

  • User-Centricity: Have a deep understanding of user-centred design principles, a passion for creating user-friendly experiences, and can balance user interests with business needs.
  • Systemic Thinking: Are skilled at using and contributing to design systems, empowering others to think systematically, and creating scalable design solutions that ensure cross-platform consistency.
  • Collaboration: Thrive in and foster a highly collaborative environment, working effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Creativity: Possess strong creative thinking and visual skills, with a keen eye for detail, quality, and innovation, and can foster creativity in others.
  • Emotional Design: Use emotional design to foster connections to our brand, increase usability, memorability, and build a strong brand personality.
  • Growth Knowledge: Have some understanding of growth design principles and business metrics.
  • Analytics: Understand the basics of A/B testing and data analysis.
  • Fast-Pace: Thrive in a fast-paced environment

⭐️ It’s a Plus If You Have:

  • Experience with accessible design.
  • Strong experience in facilitating design workshops.
  • Experience with social media and leading marketing campaigns.
  • Experience with user research.
  • A general interest in education, books, reading, and always learning new things.
