Put our distinct brands together with our dedicated colleagues and you’ve got a workplace with lots of personality. We’re open-minded, diverse, and love our differences. Everyone plays a part, and comes together to work hard, go beyond, and make sure everyone feels they belong.

Our Technology team is growing, and we're hiring for an experienced Engineering Manager. Join us to start going beyond comparison.

Insight into the role

Engineering Managers are responsible for the engine of delivery at Moneysupermarket. You ensure teams and engineers are impactful, aligned in their direction and building communication and trust. You champion forward-thinking decision making and help teams take ownership of customer outcomes from project to product. You’ll help us to continually improve and drive more ways for our customers to save money.

Our Engineering Managers have a background in software development, but the role is hands-off and you are not expected to be committing code.

How you’ll spend your day

  • Facilitating high performing teams: Ensuring individuals operate as a team, aligning direction, communication, and trust to reach their goals.
  • Ensuring teams iteratively deliver and prioritize work correctly and continually improve ways of working.
  • Aligning teams to technical roadmap: Ensuring teams are adequately resourced and moving engineers to teams where necessary to make the most impact.
  • Ensuring teams deliver safely and with a level of care and craftsmanship.
  • Improving engineering quality and efficiency:
  • Ensuring the process for managing and tracking work is effective and continuously improving.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional peers and leaders: Building relationships with the wider EM community, learning from each other, and understanding where other teams can help.
  • Developing, inspiring, and mentoring individual engineers: Providing feedback, holding regular 1:1s, and supporting individual progression, performance, growth, and well-being.
  • Coaching individuals to improve their skills.
  • Attracting and retaining talent: Leading the recruitment of engineers, ensuring a high bar for candidates and diversity in recruitment decisions.
  • Collaborating and fostering psychological safety: Ensuring the team works effectively, with high levels of collaboration, shared ownership, and accountability.
  • Driving an inclusive environment with psychological safety and trust, where team members feel safe to speak out, ask questions, and challenge each other.

What value you’ll bring to the role

  • You've been a software engineer and you know the challenges and blockers that teams face every day.
  • You’re experienced working with - and have a passion for - mentoring teams and enabling them to become high performing.
  • You love helping engineers to grow and develop, learn better ways of doing things and improve their skills and have proven experience of doing so.
  • You’re an expert agile software development practitioner, both development practices (e.g. TDD, CI/CD) and approaches to delivery.
  • You value building long lasting relationships, can quickly establish trust, inspire individuals and communicate optimally.
  • You care about diversity and inclusion and creating an inclusive culture which nurtures diversity of thought.
  • You have a growth mindset, love learning how you can get better and fostering this attitude in others.

Why switch to us

This means we respect and embrace differences in gender identity, race, ethnic origin, sexual expression and orientation, religion and faith, age, marital status, disability, neurodiversity, social background, education, and way of thinking. We’re a place where you can be you.

What rewards are on offer
